Does your body feel "stuck" in a cycle of tension? ☁️
Many of us carry a heavy, persistent tightness that refuses to budge. A jaw that stays clenched or shoulders that feel permanently raised. This isn't just physical fatigue; it is often a sign of "stagnation," where the body’s natural energy and circulation have become blocked by stress.
Tui Na is designed to get things moving again.
Rooted in the same ancient wisdom as Acupuncture, Tui Na (meaning "push and grasp") is a therapeutic medical massage. Rather than simply rubbing the surface, it targets specific meridian pathways and pressure points to invigorate the flow of "Qi", your vital life force. Through rhythmic rolling, pressing, and vibrating techniques, this practice encourages the nervous system to let go of its protective "armouring." The result is a profound sense of physical lightness and a quieted mind.
Our resident specialist, Beatrice, uses Tui Na to help you transition from a state of contraction into one of vitality. If you’re ready to unburden your system and find your flow, Beatrice is here to guide the way.

Have you ever felt disconnected from yourself, perhaps rushing through your day while carrying a physical tension you can’t quite explain? ✨
At The Somatic Therapies Centre, we believe that true healing begins by reconnecting with the wisdom of your body. Unlike traditional talking therapies that focus primarily on thoughts, somatic work invites you to explore how your life experiences are actually stored in your physical self, living in your breath, your sensations, and even your posture.
Through this gentle, body-centered approach, we help you move out of a constant survival response and into a state of deep rest and restoration. By tracking these physical signals with curiosity rather than judgment, you can begin to release stored stress and build a more resilient, grounded presence in your everyday life.
Whether you are looking for deep rest, emotional release, or simply a peaceful space to breathe, our team is here to support your unique journey back to yourself 🌿.

Kundalini is the life force energy that lives within every one of us, resting at the base of the spine. When awakened, it begins a journey of purification, clearing what is no longer in alignment and making space for your true essence to emerge.
Join certified facilitator Anna Burke for an intimate small-group Kundalini Activation at The Somatic Therapies Centre in Hove.
✨What to expect during the session:
- Gentle Awakening: You simply lie on a mat, settle into stillness, and follow the flow of a curated playlist.
- Safe Container: Anna works with the energetic field to create a held environment for your energy to flow naturally.
- Holistic Release: Experience everything from deep stillness to spontaneous movements (kriyas) or emotional release—each journey is unique to your system.
- Grounding: We close with an integration circle, herbal tea, and healthy snacks.

We often treat anxiety as a mental loop, a stream of racing thoughts, constant "what-ifs," or looming dread. But the root of anxiety often lives in the nervous system, not just in your thoughts.
When your body senses a threat, whether physical, emotional, or relational, your nervous system activates a survival response: fight, flight, or freeze. If that threat is ongoing or overwhelming, the survival energy can become trapped.
How this trapped energy manifests physically:
・ Chronic Tension: Tightness in the neck, shoulders, or jaw.
・ Respiratory Shifts: Shallow breathing or a persistent feeling of being "on edge".
・ Digestive Feedback: Physical signals through the gut and nervous system.
・ Sensory Overload: Feeling "wired but tired" and unable to enter a state of true rest.
The body remembers what the mind forgets. Somatic awareness isn't about analyzing what is "wrong"; it is about learning to listen to these signals with curiosity. By tracking physical sensations like heat, tightness, or pressure, you can teach your system that it is finally safe to complete the stress response and return to a state of calm. Reconnecting with your body is a gentle process that prioritizes your capacity and readiness to engage.
At The Somatic Therapies Centre, we offer trauma-informed, body-based care to help you navigate these patterns and move toward regulation.

We believe that healing begins when you are provided with an environment tailored to your unique needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Creating a safe space where the pacing and style of therapy are customised to the individual is our goal, ensuring your nervous system feels supported enough to begin the journey of reconnection and change.
Renate Walsh, one of our Integrative Humanistic Counsellors, embodies this philosophy by offering a warm and non-judgmental space for those navigating anxiety, grief, and life transitions. We are proud to host a diverse collective of experienced counsellors and psychotherapists at the Centre, each bringing their own specialist approach to support your mental and emotional well-being. Whether you are looking for somatic-informed talking therapy or a specific therapeutic modality, our practitioners at 81 Church Road are here to help you find the right fit for your personal growth.

Happy Easter from The Somatic Therapies Centre and SeedHove team! 🐰🥚
Easter and the arrival of Spring bring a natural invitation to begin again. Just like the daffodils find their way through the earth, our bodies often call for their own moment of renewal and "springing" into life. 🌸✨
This bank holiday, we invite you to step away from the external noise and reconnect with what is flourishing within. Whether it’s through a long walk, a moment of stillness, or simply a deep, conscious breath—give your nervous system the gift of a soft landing.
We wish our lovely community a peaceful Easter filled with presence and rest. 💛
