Now the dust is settling on the 2024 TT races, we would like to officially reveal our plans for the Manx Grand Prix 2024. We are aiming to enter two bikes in the Classic Superbike race, piloted by our good friend Shaun Anderson, who despite very limited practice time last year produced one of our best results, and rising star James Hind .
We will be working very hard between now and August to turn up with the bikes ready to showcase the undoubted talent of both these riders.
Testing earlier this year at Portimau ( as previously posted) went really well. Shaun was happy with some changes we had made to ‘his’ bike, and Jim ( who is a regular 250 Two stroke GP bike rider) felt comfortable on the bike from the word go, and put in some excellent lap times.
Exciting times at Wiznorton! 😁

With a brand new (old) bike being built ready for the Formula 1 race at the Isle of Man Classic TT.
Operating as usual
We’re in the slightly unusual situation of having completed three days testing at Portimau and still having bikes behaving impeccably, so we thought Ed should spin a few laps on #1 bike here at Jerez circuit just to rattle the windows a bit. 😜. Excuse the rather distant video, but this is not the Isle of Man, and viewing is considerably more long range! Sunshine and rotaries……. Living the dream 😁
That’s a wrap on three days of testing here in Portimau. Bike #1 ran faultlessly throughout, but bike #2 threw us a few curve balls which took some time to figure out. Towards the end of the final day we have got very close to where we need to be in order to head to the Isle of Man in August with a really good chance of showing those Kawasakis the way round 😜. Here’s Shaun pretending he’s at Ballaugh bridge.
You might all have gathered from the ‘radio silence’ that unfortunately Goodwood was not particularly kind to us this time. Lots of head scratching going on, but in the meantime, we have headed out to sunny Portugal for three days testing with the Nortons and our Manx GP riders. Day one was pretty much all smiles, the bike ran without missing a beat all day. Here’s a slightly flaky video flyby as a taster. Volume up!!!
Set up at Members Meeting for a weekend of noise and smoke 😁. This will be our first full race meeting using the Titanium rotor, so fingers and toes are all crossed. Wish us luck 😉
Well, we promised an update on the Jurby testing which took place last Sunday, but unfortunately the weather did get the better of us. The Norton stayed warm and dry in the van, but we did manage a couple of runs on the little DKW. That's racing for you! Make plans but be prepared to adapt!!! Next planned outing is Goodwood Members Meeting for the DKW in April and then the big one hopefully will be Portimau in late April for both Norton riders. 📷 Lucas Croydon Photography And of course a massive thanks to Marshals and officials from Andreas Racing Association for braving the conditions all day and the lovely free cakes!😁
Very very excited to be back on the Isle of Man to go testing the Norton and DKW with our new team rider. Fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday and pictures and reports will follow shortly. Here goes 2024 folks 😁😁😁😁😁
Norton rotaries, we love them because we have spanners! This bike had been in a collection for many years, and prior to that had spent time on the salt flats at Bonneville, so there was some concern about what we might find when it was stripped down. Thankfully all the major components are in very good shape, so now begins the task of cleaning, polishing and replacing components as required. Suspension is already booked in with our long term specialist support TW Suspension Tech for a full service. Please give us a thumbs up below if you'd like to see more like this as the rebuild progresses. 👍
Sorry we've been a little quiet on here recently, but we certainly haven't been idle! As well as our two regular bikes undergoing full rebuilds and some upgrades to chassis and engines, we are now getting stuck in to the 'new' toy. 🤩 This has been standing for some time and we thought a complete nut and bolt strip and rebuild would be worthwhile. More pictures will be posted as she starts to go back together, and news will also follow about our 2024 events, we have some very interesting plans coming together for the Manx Grand Prix
Today’s task, a ‘dry build’ of an engine to check end float on the eccentric shaft, and at the same time checking clearance between the carbs and a newly made ejector manifold on the centre plate. Everything looks good, so now time to put some rotors in it!😁😉😜
We’re hoping this modification should take the edge off the noise without reducing performance and ejector system rotor cooling. If so, it should allow us a bit more scope to go testing. 🤞

Well we finally made it! We had two frustrating days late in the week in qualifying for the Manx GP with a minor clutch issue followed by a fouled plug. The bottom line was that come race day, Shaun had not completed a full lap on the Norton. The event organisers moved heaven and earth to arrange a speed controlled lap following a course official for Shaun Anderson Racing and two other riders who were in the same position, and that allowed us to take our place on the start line.
The bike was far from perfect, with a slight misfire and poor throttle response, but Shaun managed to get her round and finished in a very respectable ninth position. We’re sure that given more set up time the lap speed would have been quite a bit higher. But such is the nature of this place, and it’s foolish to dwell on the ‘ what if’s’
Apologies for the lack of updates and details, but our focus was on many other things. We will post more pictures and videos in the near future. Thanks for your patience and support
🔈Haun Sanderson to the start line please, that’s Haun Sanderson to the start line 🔈
After a last minute rebuild caused by some parts getting held up by a customs / courier c**k up. We finally got the new race development engine built and running today just in time to head to the Manx Grand Prix tomorrow night. Phew! The bike is going to be ridden by Gary Vines in the Classic Senior Race. Thanks also to Stephen Smith #35 - Slipps Racing for help in getting the parts to us.
Well, one p***y has now escaped from the bag! Our Norton will be piloted in the 2023 Classic Superbike MGP race by our good friend and '130mph TT club' member Shaun Anderson. We're really chuffed to have Shaun onboard, and genuinely believe the combination will prove very competitive. Bring it on! Shaun Anderson Racing Sarah Anderson Photography
It's getting closer to that time of year again. 👍😁 Richard is taking time out from the Manx Grand Prix this year, so stand by for exciting rider announcements for Classic Superbike and Classic Senior races coming very soon.📸Ellan Vannin Images
We’re absolutely amazed that over 19,000 people are now following us!😁. Thanks to each and every one of you for your support and interest, it truly means a lot to us. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏X19,000.
And here are the guts of the thing after 3 hours at the dyno. We couldn’t be more happy with how it looks inside. A good moment to thank Rock Oil once again for helping us develop a lubricant that keeps all the shiny parts sliding.
The engine was stripped after dyno runs and all looked very good inside. What was particularly pleasing was that the 'air out' temperatures were much lower than we saw when we used stock rotors. (That is the cooling / lubricating air flow through the centre of the rotor ) So this is a big plus for the DKW which has been running very hot upto now, and when we apply these rotors to the Norton engine which runs a good bit cooler anyway, we genuinely believe this should give the rotor bearings a much easier time, and also allow us the scope to run higher RPM before encountering the E-shaft flex issues that have limited us upto now. 😜👍🙏
Dyno testing this morning with the titanium rotor. We had some annoying problems with fuel starvation initially, but after a handful of gentle runs, we pushed the rpm up by 1,000 rpm from what we had run previously with the cast iron rotors, and the results are very positive. 👍😁. We stripped the engine this afternoon and it looks perfect inside, so we’ll be quite happy to run this at with Shaun Anderson onboard
We have spent a lot of time and effort designing and manufacturing a prototype titanium rotor as pictured, and have recently run it in the DKW race bike. It weighs approximately 700g less than a stock item and uses the latest Mazda seals which are a great improvement on the original design and they have improved cooling passages. We are now looking at commissioning a batch for a production run. Just putting out feelers to see if anyone would be interested in buying these once we have done more testing. They are not cheap to produce, but of course the cost reduces the more we order. Please send me a personal message if you might be interested. Thanks for looking. Andy.

Two minutes to blast off 🚀
Our new test pilot ! 😁. Although a 4.2 second run on a slippery floor on cold tyres is probably not an ideal introduction to the joys of rotary racing 🥴
Hopefully some video footage to follow, and more runs over the course of the weekend
