Taking to the trails this spring? 🚴🌷☀
Check your chain is in good working condition before you set off. If your bike chain becomes loose over time, it could come off while you’re riding and potentially cause serious injury. To check the tension, press your fingers against the top of the chain- it shouldn’t move more than about half an inch. Chains naturally loosen and stretch with use, so replace yours if it no longer holds the correct tension. 🔧

By testing your brake levers and checking they engage your brake pads as normal, you can make sure there is no sticking or dragging. If your brake lever needs adjusting, you can tweak it by unscrewing the barrel adjuster slightly.

Planning on taking your bike out? Make sure it’s trail ready! 🚲🌸
Making sure your gears are shifting smoothing before you head off can help you spot if your derailleur needs adjusting. By using a bike stand, you can lift your bike and spin the pedals to run through the gears and check that they shift correctly. If you do need to adjust your front and rear derailleurs slightly, you can do this quite easily with a Philips-head screwdriver. 🔧
