MATCH REPORT⚽️
The ladies were in action on Thursday evening against Darlington Locomotives, and it proved to be a tough and physical contest from the start. With the referee letting a number of late fouls and heavy challenges go without decisions, the girls had to stay composed and push through some difficult moments.
The team started strongly and quickly took control of the first half, moving the ball well and creating chances. Their pressure paid off as they went into the break 2–0 up, giving them a solid platform to build on.
In the second half, a change of formation really lifted the team. The adjustment gave the ladies more energy and freedom going forward, and they took full advantage. The football improved even further, with some excellent passing and movement creating wave after wave of attacks.
The goals began to flow, including what could easily be goal of the season, capping off a brilliant attacking performance. By full time, the ladies had added four more goals to complete a convincing 6–0 victory.

DEERNESS VALLEY 9-2 HURWORTH ⚽️🧡🖤
On Sunday the ladies were back in away action against Hurworth Albion Ladies! On a tough ground with winds against them the squad knew they were up for a challenge, with outfield players also taking their turn between the sticks as a result of goalkeeper availability.
The ladies started well, hoping to capitalise early and control the game from the off. Hurworth battled well and proved their ability to get in behind the Deerness back line on several occasions, calling for the squad to up their game. A dominant performance saw Deerness come out on top at full time with some well worked goals, fantastic set piece play and relentless effort from each individual throughout.
POTM🏆 This weeks player of the match was voted by the ladies following the fixture and was rightly awarded to Beth Black. A classic display in the middle of the park saw Beth confidently link play from start to finish, a top class performance from a valued member of the starting 11 (turning a blind eye to the booking for running her mouth🤭) Well done Beth!

This afternoon the ladies were back in action, this time facing South Moor for the second time this season, with the game being played at home.
The ladies started the match strongly, creating early chances and putting South Moor under pressure. They were unlucky not to take the lead after hitting the post, while the South Moor keeper was forced to make several good saves to keep the score level. Unfortunately, it was South Moor who managed to score first. However, the lead didn’t last long as the women responded quickly, with Arynn C finding the back of the net to bring the game level.
Going into the second half at 1–1, the ladies knew they had to push and dig deep. South Moor managed to strike again to take the lead, putting the pressure back on the home side. The ladies kept fighting and in the final 10 minutes really turned up the intensity, once again hitting the post and creating several chances. Their persistence paid off when Arynn produced a clever backheel that fell perfectly to Sophie M, who calmly put the ball into the back of the net to level the game at 2–2.
Although the ladies will be disappointed not to take all three points, with a depleted squad they worked incredibly hard and showed great determination throughout.

PLAYERS OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 🧡⚽️
The ladies have been voting once again for their February Player of the Month, alongside the manager’s nomination after another strong month of performances!
🏆 Player’s Player:
For February, the vote goes to Jenny Stirling! This now marks the second month Jenny has picked up either Player’s Player or Manager’s Player of the Month – a brilliant achievement.
One of the youngest in the squad, Jenny continues to give 100% week in, week out. She’s always putting in strong tackles, maintaining a high work rate, and going above and beyond for the team. Her effort and determination have not gone unnoticed by the girls. Well deserved, Jenny! 👏
🏆 Manager’s Player:
This month’s Manager’s Player goes to Beth Black.
Beth has been ever-present and hugely influential throughout February. Getting herself in amongst the goals, constantly assisting, and providing real control in the midfield, she has been a key part of the team’s success. Always looking for that through ball and dictating play with confidence, Beth’s impact has been clear in every match. A well-deserved award for someone who puts the effort in every single week. Well done, Beth! 👏

This afternoon the ladies were back in cup action, this time facing Seaham. They knew going into the game it was going to be a tough test, but the girls came out flying from the first whistle.
Within the opening 23 minutes the ladies were 3–0 up, with all three goals coming in an incredible three-minute spell. The tempo, energy and clinical finishing set the tone early on and put Seaham under immediate pressure.
The first half saw the girls continue to dig deep, with Beth unlucky to hit the post and the Seaham keeper pulling off a few strong saves to keep her side in the game. The work rate across the pitch was outstanding, with every player contributing both on and off the ball.
The second half proved more challenging as Seaham really stepped their game up, and with the wind against us it made conditions even tougher. Seaham managed to pull two goals back, but the ladies stayed composed and saw the game out to secure a well-earned 3–2 victory. A truly brilliant performance from everyone on that pitch once again today.
