We’re excited to welcome Coach Merdan to the Burners Football coaching staff as our Assistant Defensive Backs Coach, where he’ll primarily be working with our cornerbacks.

Currently competing with the London Warriors, Coach Merdan has established himself as one of the league’s top defensive backs and has been an integral part of the XL Performance success in recent years. His experience competing at the highest level of British American football will bring invaluable insight and leadership to our defensive back room.

His attention to detail, makes him a fantastic addition to our coaching staff. We’re excited to see the impact he’ll have on our secondary this season.

We’re excited to welcome Coach Rio to the Burners Football coaching staff as our Assistant Linebackers Coach.

Currently competing at the highest level of British American football with the London Warriors in the AFLE, Coach Rio brings valuable playing experience and a strong coaching background to our program.

Having previously coached with the South Kings during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, as well as spending time developing athletes in the London Blitz Youth and Junior programs, he’s passionate about helping players reach their full potential both on the field

His energy will be a fantastic addition to our linebackers room, and we’re excited to have him join the Burners family.

We’re excited to welcome Coach Jai Jackson to the Burners Football coaching staff as our Defensive Line Coach.

A veteran of European football, Coach Jai has competed across multiple countries and defensive systems, giving him a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to our program. His versatility as a player and understanding of the game will be invaluable as he develops our defensive front.

We’re confident his leadership and expertise will help take our defensive line to the next level and continue building a physical, disciplined defense.

We’re excited to welcome Coach Chad to the Burners Football coaching staff as our Assistant Defensive Backs Coach & Assistant Special Teams Coach.

Chad brings a wealth of playing experience from across Europe, earning ELF All-Star honors while establishing himself as one of the most dynamic return specialists in the game. Over the past two seasons, he has led all players in Europe in return yards, proving himself to be a true game-changer.

His knowledge, experience, and passion for the game will be a tremendous asset to our players and our program. We’re excited to have him on board as we continue building something special.

After two seasons of our Offensive Line & Special Teams Coach, Coach Ayub has earned his next opportunity.

We’re proud to announce his promotion to Offensive Coordinator for the 2026/27 season.

His commitment, leadership, and passion for developing our student-athletes have made a lasting impact on this program, and we’re excited to see him lead our offense into the next chapter.

🚨 HEAD COACH ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Zac Cooney-Quinn as the new Head Coach of the Brunel Burners! 🔥

Coach Zac brings a wealth of experience from both the collegiate and professional game. His coaching journey includes serving as Assistant Defensive Line Coach & Special Teams Quality Control at Bryant University, as well as Defensive Line/Linebackers Coach with the NFL International Player Pathway Program. He currently coaches as the Defensive Backs Coach for the Alpine Rams in the AFLE.

Beyond his impressive coaching résumé, Coach Zac has a genuine passion for developing athletes, building strong team culture, and helping programmes reach their full potential. We’re excited for the future under his leadership and can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings for the Burners.

As we head into a new chapter for the programme, it is with heavy hearts that we announce SJ will be stepping down from his role.
Over his time with the team, he has been a driving force behind everything we’ve built, putting in countless hours behind the scenes to help shape and support the programme on and off the field.
We want to thank him for his leadership, commitment, and belief in the team throughout his time here. His impact won’t be forgotten

As the offseason draws to a close and preseason creeps up, it saddens our hearts to announce that Coach James will be stepping down and away from the program. For over a decade he has been a force to be reckoned with both on and off the field, bringing fire to every aspect of the game. We thank Coach James for the leadership, passion and dedication he has brought to the team every single day, leaving his mark on uniball and steering us to back to back national championships.
