It’s time! Carb loading can be one of the best parts of marathon training but is also where some runners struggle. The recommended amount of carbs in the days before a marathon is between 8 and 12g of carbs per day to every kg of the runner’s weight - meaning 450g upwards depending on how much you weigh. Hopefully we’ve all been practicing the day before our longest runs so we know what foods our body’s prefer (or at least don’t object to )😉. A good carb load can mean the best race day so it’s definitely worth taking seriously along with a good hydration strategy and plenty of sleep. These are the things we can control (since we can’t pick our perfect weather) so enjoy as much as you can ☺️.
