Here at WWC, we rely on the commitment and talent of our members to keep the league running, while also maintaining a safe and welcoming community.
Two of our members created this cute and helpful introduction to pronouns for our team handbook. It’s a great example of the teamwork that takes place at WWC, both on and off track ☺️

Our Story

Wakefield’s only Roller Derby league the Wakey Wheeled Cats were formed in May 2009.

We are a women's flat-track roller derby league based at Lightwaves Leisure Centre, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK.
We have members from all over the Wakefield district and beyond, including Castleford, Pontefract, Horbury, Ossett, Hemsworth and Dewsbury.

Roller derby is a fast-paced, full contact sport played on a flat oval track, and the fastest growing sport in the country.

The Cats provide a safe athletic space for those who self-identify as women and have grown massively over the past 9 years, progressing from 6 original members to currently 45. The one team has now expanded to two teams, the Travel ‘A’ team and the Trinity Rollers B team.

Interested in joining?
You don’t need to be able to skate to join us, as we teach everything you need to know to be safe and effective on your skates. Recruitment is currently twice a year, in January and June/July. We also require referees, photographers and non-skating officials so please get in touch if you think you can contribute to the Wakey Wheeled Cats!
