Shavasana ⭐️
Also known as co**se pose or relaxation.
Such an important part of our Yoga practice.
It promotes deep relaxation & allows the body, mind & breath to sync together.
Shavasana tends to be a short practice between 5 to 15 minutes long.
Although it is sometimes extended for longer depending on the class type.
It promotes complete relaxation, allowing the nervous system to relax & the rest of the body to release tension & stress.
It can enhance self awareness by providing an opportunity to connect with your inner state & emotions.
It’s a gentle practice where we learn to observe our thoughts & sensations without pressure & judgments.
Promoting a sense of calm & presence.
Breathe, release, relax ⭐️

I have not posted on my Yoga page for a long time now. 👋😊
I’ve been distracted with life & joining different courses to learn more about things I am passionate about.
One of them being mental health 🧠💛
I’m super happy to have passed this course & to understand mental health problems on a deeper level.
It’s been very insightful and helped me learn more about myself and people I love.
Our mental health is just as important as our physical health, amazing that it’s becoming more & more recognised 💛
(P.S) Yes.. I am also known as Victoria.. long story 🙃

September is national Yoga month 🧘🏻♀️
Yoga has many benefits.
Yoga is not just about physical exercise, it’s also about discovering a sense of oneness.
It is a great way to stretch & strengthen the body.. giving you space to be present & breathe without the distraction of every day life, whether you’re experienced or just starting out.
It’s combination of physical postures, breathing exercises & meditation helps reduce stress & anxiety.
It also helps boost your immune system by promoting movement, blood flow & stimulating the lymphatic system.. all of which are essential for a strong immune response 💛
If you’ve not already started & are considering starting.. look into your local classes available & give it a go.
Every teacher is different, it’s about finding what’s right for you 😊🧘🏻♀️

Our Yoga practice is so personal, we all have different body designs, injuries & histories.
During lockdown I completed a course helping deliver Yoga to people who have suffered mental trauma & how trauma affects our nervous system.
I wanted to further my knowledge about the nervous system & in May I completed a CPD focusing on the nervous system & Yoga practice.
The nervous system is made up of the brain, Spinal cord & nerves.
It controls many aspects of what you think 🧠
Feel 💛 & what our body does 🚶
It allows us to do things such as walk, speak, swallow, breathe & learn.
It also controls how our body reacts in stressful situations.
Yoga practice encourages us to relax, to slow the breath & focus on the present.
Shifting balance from the sympathetic nervous system & the flight or flight response to the parasympathetic system & the relax response. Helping us to process things calmer such as our digestion, relaxing the heart rate, relaxing muscles, releasing tension & calming the mind- just to name a few 🧘🏻♀️

Today I had the pleasure of delivering Yoga to around 180 very lovely year 9 boys at the RGS school as part of their spring wellbeing week.
I was blown away with how engaged they all were.
They really put effort into focusing on themselves, their breath & being present.
It made my heart smile & I very much look forward to the next time 🧘🏻♀️💛

Our mini spring Yoga retreat last Saturday. 🧘🏻♀️ 💛
We focused mostly on opening our bodies & releasing stored physical & emotional tension.
Subtle energy clearing breath work, Nadi Shodhana, helping us feel clearer & more balanced.
The sun also came out long enough for us to go & explore some of the beautiful local countryside

Loved Learning more in depth about Eyes 👁️
Such fascinating parts of our body.
Vision is a function of our cerebral cortex & occupies about 40 percent of the brains copacity.
That’s why we close our eyes to relax & fall asleep. 😌
Dristhti (Sanskrit) - Focused gaze,
A tool to help us to reclaim control of our distracted mind through sight & cultivate body awareness by directing our attention to a specific point, body part or for rest.
