What do you call someone that can lift a lot of weight?
Strong!
Which is exactly what I would call everyone in my class this week!
Coming on strong! πͺ
We went over a whole host of flexibility skills!
From bridge, to splits, to levers and even to handstands.
Remember!
Keep practicing and you will get there.
You just have to keep on trying!
Well done everyone! π¦
What is a super important joint in gymnastics?
I mean they alll are... π
And not just for gymnastics, for everything!
But it is so important to practice flexibility in your hips! π€ΈββοΈ
Your hips are so important to so much of gymnastics.
You may also note that it is usually one of the first things which people complain about being stiff. π©Ό
So stretching them out is super important.
Especially as we are gymnasts and we need very flexible legs for our splits!

Who else is excited for sessions to start again this weekend? β
I know I am! π
We have had so much progress over the past couple of months.
I know we can get even further!
I have redesigned my plans, for gymnastics and flexibility.
I even have the permission to start my 1 to 1 classes!
Is anyone else as excited as I am? π

Ever found something and then wondered how you did life before it?
That was basically what happened to me this morning. π€£
I forgot how useful sliders are!
You can put them on your feet and you can allow gravity to help with your splits! π€ΈββοΈ
I am admittedly using some plastic bags I borrowed from the gym owner but it works really well.
But it is just a reminder as to how useful they can be.
I may need to invest in some more!
Keep stretching!

So how did my new flexibility session go?
They went amazingly! If I do say so myself. π€£
So for my new sessions set up, I have begun to focus on the flexibility of individual body parts.
And how they contribute to the movement as a whole! π€ΈββοΈ
So we can build into some amazing shapes!
During flexibility this week, we focused on the shoulder and our back! π
This type of flexibility can help in the lead up to skills such as:
- Handstand
- Handspring
- Flyspring
- Bridge
- Flicks
- And so many more! π
You have done such amazing work! πͺ
Well done to everyone who came to the session. π
This is just the beginning we will go so much further, and before you know it we will be doing all sorts of skills we thought were scary yesterday! π¦

What happened when you push your arms or legs too far?
You get pulled muscles.
To stop yourself from getting sore, pulled muscles, is to warmup before every session.
Warming up and getting properly stretched out, ready for gymnastics is as important as the sport itself!
Remember to stay safe and try not to push beyond what you think is possible.
If you could only train one thing, what would it be?
For me it would be flexibility.
There are lots of little moments where it would be possible.
After all, I did the session of flexibility above in about three minutes.
Imagine what a bit of concentration and planning would help to accomplish?

How do you make something better?
By changing how you do things...
By replacing the things that perhaps don't work as well, with other things to see what works better! π
I am changing the way my flexibility sessions work.π
There will still be the same element of skill based flexibility there.
But I am planning on having a much more movement centric approach.
If you want to find out what this means, you will have to come along and find out!
