🖤🤍 - NORTH EAST SPORTING CLUB 4–2 BLAYDON COMMUNITY FC ⚽
North East Sporting Club came through a six-goal thriller at the Barking Dog Sports Ground, beating an energetic Blaydon Community side 4–2 to claim another three points in the Northern Alliance.
Blaydon started brightly, but Sporting got hold of the game after around five minutes and were quickly rewarded.
⚽ 8 MINUTES — 1–0 SPORTING
Ethan Sawyer picked the ball up, dribbled past the Blaydon number 7 and delivered a great cross for Jake Thompson, who finished well to put Sporting ahead.
Just five minutes later, the Sawyer brothers were at it again. 🤝
⚽ 13 MINUTES — 2–0 SPORTING
Harry Sawyer turned provider once more, this time finding brother Ethan Sawyer, who produced what was almost a carbon copy of the goal scored against Gateshead Borough.
⚽ 35 MINUTES — 3–0 SPORTING
And then the favour was returned.
Ethan Sawyer went flying down the left and delivered a cross for his brother Harry, who produced a great finish to make it 3–0.
The Sawyer brothers clearly don’t need to speak much on the pitch - Telepathy!!!
Sporting looked in control, although there seemed to be quite a bit of additional time at the end of the first half 👀👀👀👀
Unfortunately, Sporting gave Blaydon a way back into the game with a mistake, and the visitors didn’t let them off the hook, scoring just before the half-time whistle.
Half-time: Sporting 3–1 Blaydon
The second half proved a much more difficult affair.
A penalty was awarded to Blaydon, with the Sporting players around the incident adamant that the goalkeeper had never touched the player. But it’s one of those decisions where the referee has to make a call.
The Blaydon player made no mistake from the spot.
3–2. Game on.
Suddenly, Blaydon believed they could get something from the game and Sporting found themselves dropping deeper in spells and struggling to find their usual rhythm.
But the lads stuck together after finding themselves in a position they probably should never have been in.
Decision after decision appeared to go against Sporting, including what looked to be a stonewall penalty that was waved away again by the referee.
As the game became increasingly scrappy, tackles started flying in from both sides. Thankfully, there were no real issues between the players — it was simply becoming a proper battle as both teams fought for the result.
⚽ 80 MINUTES — 4–2 SPORTING
Then Harry Sawyer decided he’d had enough.
From inside his own half, Harry unleashed what can only be described as a worldie 🚀 — leaving the Blaydon goalkeeper with absolutely no chance.
4–2. Game done.
🟥 - Blaydon were reduced to ten men with only a couple of minutes remaining, and Sporting still created a few chances late on but couldn’t add to the scoreline.
FULL TIME: SPORTING 4–2 BLAYDON
It wasn’t Sporting’s greatest performance, and there were certainly spells where the team didn’t hit the heights we’ve seen recently.
But there were also some really good passages of football, and ultimately the lads showed the character to weather a difficult spell and come away with three valuable points against an energetic and persistent Blaydon side.
The Sawyer brothers were instrumental once again, combining for goals and assists, with Harry also claiming the Man of the Match award alongside Ethan.
