This week was 📕 World Book Day 📕 Our session was inspired by the book “The Dot” by Peter H Reynolds to make dots! The story follows Vashti, who says she can’t draw, as she explores all the different ways she can draw a dot, unlocking her creative spirit.

🌞Yoga and mindfulness enrichment 🌞 at the end of the summer term was an absolute treat! We talked about our stress buckets, what fills them, what “taps” we can add to stop them overflowing.
🎨 Crafting, when done mindfully, can act as a tap in stress buckets. And practising gratitude has been shown to improve mood and outlook on life. The students were taught how to quilling, using coils of colourful paper to create images. They created gratitude cards for people they appreciated 💜

🌞Yoga and mindfulness enrichment🌞 at the end of the summer term was an absolute treat! We talked about our stress buckets, what fills them, what this can physically feel like in the body and what “taps” we can add to stop them overflowing.
🧠 Mindfulness is another “tap” that can reduce the stress in our stress buckets. As are mantras, as they help us notice and reinforce the positives around us, rather than the negatives.
Almost anything can be considered mindfulness if you are focused on the activity at had and are in the present moment, not thinking about the past or future or other places, just the here and now.
🚶🏻♀️To practice mindfulness we took a mindful walk and noticed how many beautiful 🪴 , trees 🌳 and flowers 🌸 surround us everyday at school. We also did some mindful colouring🖍We identified mantras that felt important to us.

Movement and exercise is one was to add a tap to your stress bucket and release built up stress. Here students are playing with partner poses 💚

I’ve missed my yoga crew this week! In the last session before half term we shared what we are grateful for, practiced some heart opening poses including bow pose, set ourselves some kindness challenges to spread the love, and practiced a metta meditation for loving kindness 🥰

Playing in KS3 yoga last week- a real journey into mindfulness, being in the present moment, building connections between photos. We started with a single photo and connected images based on colour, pattern, shape, material, use, whatever came to mind. We almost used up all the cards!

Yoga club is back!
KS3 Friday lunchtime=grab food from the canteen at break time so you can join us as close to 1.30 as possible! Come in school uniform (bring a pair of shorts to go under your skirt if that will help you feel more comfortable).
KS4 Friday after school= come in comfy clothes 3.30-4.15
Both in the drama studio. All are welcome!
