🔴⚫ A POSITIVE DAY AT REGIONALS

Wow… what a day for our Throstles. Three more competitive fixtures and, after the emotional rollercoaster of last weekend’s National League action, plenty to be proud of.

We started against a strong Midlands Rockets side. Two disappointing goals from a defensive perspective left us with work to do, before Johann George scored his first competitive Throstles goal to bring us back into the game. We continued to push for the equaliser but couldn’t quite find that final moment.

Next came our sister side WBA PFC,and what a performance from the team. We went into half-time at 0–0 before an excellent goal-kick routine gave us the breakthrough just a minute into the second half, finished brilliantly by Harry Bestwick. ⚽️

The game had a bit of everything; fouls, chances, a penalty claim and even a sin bin, but the team battled throughout. WBA eventually found their equaliser with just three minutes remaining, before we had a late opportunity from a corner to potentially take all three points.

Our final fixture, and remarkably our eighth competitive game in little over a week, brought an extremely physical contest against Manchester United. It wasn’t a game full of quality or goalscoring opportunities, but Abbie Bolt’s pressure forced an own goal and we managed the game to secure a hard-earned 1–0 victory and all three points. 💪

A positive day with plenty more lessons learned and another step forward for this new group.

🔴⚫ REGIONAL LEAGUE RETURNS | GAMEWEEK ONE

No time to stand still. Just one week on from our opening National League weekend, the Throstles are back in competitive action tomorrow as the West Midlands Powerchair Regional League gets underway.

Three challenging fixtures await:

🚀 Midlands Rockets — 10:00
🔵 WBA PFC — 11:50
🔴 Manchester United — 14:35

Another opportunity to put the work from training into action, keep developing as a group and build on the foundations we’ve started to lay.

Ready to go again. 🔴⚫

🔴⚫ GAMEWEEK ONE | UNDER OUR BELTS

Our opening Premiership weekend is complete, and while it wasn’t quite the start we were hoping for, there’s plenty for this new-look Throstles group to take away from it.

It was a mixed weekend of performances and moments, but throughout all five games one thing never changed, the mentality of the group.

This is a brand-new squad coming together, learning about each other and building relationships in competitive action. Even when things didn’t go our way on court, everyone stuck together, took ownership and responsibility when mistakes were made, and continued to put the team first.

There’s plenty for us to look back on, work on and develop. Equally, there were plenty of positives and moments where we saw the things we’ve been working hard on in training successfully transfer into competition.

That’s what this stage of the journey is about, learning, developing and continuing to build together.

And there’s no time to dwell. While our next National League action doesn’t come until December, we’re back on court this Sunday as our West Midlands Powerchair Regional League campaign gets underway.

Back to work. 🔴⚫

🔴⚫ FULL-TIME | NEWCASTLE 3–0 THROSTLES

A tough end to Gameweek One as our Throstles fall to a 3–0 defeat against Newcastle United.

Not the way we wanted to finish the weekend, but across five games there have been plenty of positives, valuable experience and opportunities throughout the entire squad.

A new-look group continuing to learn, develop and build relationships in competitive action. There’s plenty we can take from this opening weekend, both from the moments that went well and those that didn’t.

Lots to learn. Plenty to build on. 💪

We’ll keep working ahead of Gameweek Two in December. 🔴⚫

🔴⚫ UNCHANGED FOR OUR FINAL GAME

We go unchanged once again as we head into our fifth and final fixture of Gameweek One.

After a frustrating draw with Sevenoaks this morning, the Throstles will be looking to bounce back with a strong performance against what will undoubtedly be a tough Newcastle United side.

🔴⚫ FULL-TIME | THROSTLES 1–1 SEVENOAKS

A frustrating result this morning as we’re forced to settle for a point against Sevenoaks.

The Throstles started brightly, creating opportunities and enjoying some good spells, but found ourselves 1–0 down at the break following a disappointing goal from a defensive perspective.

We continued to push throughout the second half, searching for a way back into the game, and eventually got our reward right at the death as Brad Bates scrambled home a last-minute equaliser to rescue a point. ⚽️

Not the result or performance we wanted, but we kept fighting until the very end and have another point on the board.

One final game of the weekend to come against Newcastle. 🔴⚫
