🎾 WHAT A FINALS WEEKEND! 🏆☀️

Following weeks of brilliant competition and dozens of close matches, this weekend saw the culmination of our club tournament! 💥

We were blessed with glorious weather ☀️ and fantastic support on the sidelines as we watched some truly sensational tennis unfold. 🎾👏

A huge thank you to everyone who kept us fed and fueled over the weekend—the chicken curry on Saturday was an absolute hit, and Sunday’s delicious cream teas were the perfect treat! 🍛🫖

A massive well done to everyone who entered the competitions this year, and extra congratulations to all of our finalists and ultimate winners! 🥇🥈

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who helped organize, cook, and clean up to make the two days such an enjoyable weekend for the club. 🙌❤️

Wellow Tennis Club is delighted to have appointed a new club Head Coach Taro (Taz) Keens.

Taz brings an exceptional elite competitive tennis pedigree, having been Hampshire County No. 1, Great Britain National No. 3, an International Junior ranked World No. 601, and a former Top 1000 WTA Tour professional.

She also has vast coaching experience and in her last job developed structured player pathways across all ages and abilities.

Commenting Taz said: “I am really excited to have this new opportunity and am looking forward enormously to helping Wellow on its growth path. Along with my team I am planning to run sessions for players of all ages and all abilities including Wellow’s many league teams. As Head Coach I expect to be visible to all club members and am sure I can help the club in its aspiration to become a tennis centre of excellence”.

Taz’s appointment marks another important milestone in the continued development of Wellow Tennis Club. We are really proud that someone of Taz’s calibre and profile has chosen to join Wellow and wish her every success in her new role.

A big thank you to Ryde Lawn Tennis Club for hosting our men’s match yesterday! 🎾👏

Julian did a fantastic job as our taxi service, getting us to and from the pier 🚕⛴️. We enjoyed some great tennis (sadly, not too much of it from us! 😂) on another beautiful, sunny day ☀️.

After the match, we enjoyed some well-deserved post-match refreshments in the lovely clubhouse 🍻🍰, followed by more drinks and good times along the seafront 🌊🍹.

A really fun day with great company — thanks again to everyone at Ryde! 😊

☀️🏆 Wellow Tennis Club takes on the Green! 🏆☀️

What a phenomenal, scorching hot day at Wellow Golf Club! 12 of our players traded their tennis rackets for golf clubs, and the competition did not disappoint. 🏌️‍♂️💨

The course was in pristine condition, with the greens running perfectly true ahead of the club championship this weekend. After an incredible day out on the fairways, the final leaderboard was incredibly tight!

To wrap up a fantastic day, everyone enjoyed a brilliant raffle. A massive thank you to everyone who donated prizes! Together, we raised a fantastic sum for club funds, which will be split with the golf club’s wonderful chosen charity, Naomi & Jack’s House. 🏠❤️

🎾 Wellow Tennis Club meets Croquet! 🦩🔨

​The rain held off nicely for our 3rd annual Croquet Day this morning! ☁️🌤️

​A massive thank you to Hugh and the wonderful team at Hamptworth Croquet Club for hosting us. We all had absolutely great fun, especially with some of our members trying the game for the very first time! 🏆🙌

​Turns out, those tennis skills transfer pretty well to the croquet lawns! 🎾➡️🪵

🎾 Wellow Tennis Club Summer Tournament – April 2026 ☀️

20 Wellow tennis players enjoyed a friendly and competitive tournament held on Sunday 26th April in the glorious sunshine! 🕶️🎾

The three rounds ended up in a great mix of players, with D team players mixing it up with A team players for some fantastic friendly sets. 🤝📈

After three rounds, the semi-finals featured Paul Feeney and Wendy Burnston (playing her very first tournament! 👏) versus Phil Ratcliffe and Clare Skinner. It was a tough battle, with Clare and Phil coming out on top. 🏆🔥

The other semi featured a "clash of the Wallis brothers," Ben and Scott, partnered with Julie Hanson and Jennifer Smith respectively. 🤜🤛 Ben and Julie fought hard and won through to the final. 🎾✨

In the final, partners swapped! Ben and Clare eventually beat Phil and Julie in a nail-biting, close-fought tie-break. 📉🥇

Each of the finalists won fantastic prizes kindly sponsored by the Royal Jaipur curry house in Plaitford. 🍛🎁

​Shout out to for hosting a lovely afternoon of tennis in glorious sunshine! ☀️🎾 There is nothing better than getting some sets in with this crew.

​We always look forward to the post-match chips, but the pizza today was a delicious bonus! 🍟🍕 Feeling fueled and ready for the next round.
