Great training night last night down at Whitehaven AFC, massive thanks to them for letting us use their clubhouse and ground and thanks to the teams training who observed from a distance and those who came to see what we were doing.
Our scenario was cardiac arrest in the public with us running it from a member of the public collapsing and a 999 call being made, bystanders starting CPR with CFRS attending and taking over until the ambulance arrived, it including working with the crew and the public and the CFRs seeing it through to doing the handover with the ambulance crew.
Another huge thankyou to North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for assisting and supporting. We had members from St Bees & Egremont, Keswick and Wigton in attandance last night.
We are available to attend fun days/festivals/community days to bring along our training equipment and show basic life support techniques and raise awareness of what is that CFRs do.

Fantastic training night on Thursday with multi-team attendance. We had some fantastic role players and as always a massive thanks to Whitehaven AFC for the use of their function room and club space for the scenarios.
Heres to the next one 😁

You can now see live waiting times for our A&E departments in Carlisle and Whitehaven and our Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) in Keswick and Penrith.
🚨 ncic.nhs.uk/locations/emergency-care-hub
We are trialling sharing our live waiting times with the hope that this information helps set people’s expectations when you are waiting to be seen.
We also hope it will raise awareness of our UTCs which have significantly shorter waiting times than our A&E departments, and are the best places to go if you need medical attention but it is not life-threatening.
They are now live on our website and the information includes: How many people are currently in the department, the average waiting time to see a doctor/nurse after initial assessment and how many people have arrived in the last hour.
No matter how busy our A&E departments are, the most seriously ill and injured patients will always be seen first and as quickly as possible. Regardless of our waiting times, if it is an emergency please call 999. For non urgent issues you should go to 111.nhs.uk, go to a UTC, contact your GP or go to your local pharmacy.

We would like to wish our community a Happy New Year. The team have been busy over the last few weeks and continue to be. We could not do it without support from members of the public and our team who give their own time being on duty and responding to urgent calls. Please, if you can donate follow the link below. Thank you.
