Hoops vs Burscough
The Start of spring brought the sunshine out for a great game of football at Leisure United William Foster between the Hoops and Burscough.
The Hoops made a promising start the game without creating too many chances against a resolute defensive performance by Burscough. It had to be something special to break the deadlock, and boy was that the case! (See pic ๐คฉ) After a freekick was given just into the Burscough half, Emily stepped up with confidence and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give the Hoops a well deserved half time lead.
Second half the Hoops continued to create chances and we're unlucky not to capitalise, as Lyla's great effort struck both posts and came out again ๐ฒ but Hoops perseverance eventually paid off, as Lilia and Emily got a goal a piece to stretch the lead, which was a reward for our performance. Burscough didn't give up though, as they grabbed a goal late on just shy of the final whistle.
Delighted with the girls performance. Considering 6 of the team played for district just over 12 hours prior, the intensity and determination was consistent until the end ๐ช
Well done to both teams today for a competitive but fair game between two great sides.
PPOM ๐- Layla - never doubted this girls potential. Just wanted to see that game competitiveness which was much improved and we saw some great runs and passing.
CPOM ๐Ada - dominated midfield and never stopped working to drive the team forward.
๐Lilia - great feet and creativity in midfield as her confidence grew throughout the game.

Hoops vs Coyotes
A beautiful but cold morning at Leisure United William Foster as FC Brittania Hoops took on Cherrybrook Coyotes on silent weekend.
Keen to get back on track following recent results, the Hoops came out with purpose from the start, testing the Coyotes GK numerous times, particularly from the many corners, a reward for continuing to push forward. It took longer than expected for us to take the lead, but when it did, it was worth the wait as the impressive Emily, held up the ball, turned qu**ky and smashed into the roof of the net to give the Hoops a deserved lead. This was almost doubled soon after, as a penalty awarded for handball struck the post , meaning a narrow lead at HT.
Second half, Hoops continued to attack, but the scoreline was kept down by the impressive Coyotes keeper. But she couldnt do much about the neat finish from Lyla, the superb run and finish from Orla and then, a nice touch from Emily from another corner. Despite some late pressure from Coyotes, the Hoops managed to keep a clean sheet and take the win.
Delighted with the win today and although not at our best. It was very important to start to build confidence again for our remaining four games in the cup.
CPOM ๐ Orla - Great performance down the wing, finished off with a superb solo run and finish.
PPOM ๐ Brooke - steady at the back, composed on the ball and strong in the tackle.
๐ Iris - consistent performance with some neat saves and timing when coming out. Capped off with a superb assist for Orla.
Thanks to ALL parents for showing respect on this weekend and for always encouraging the girls in the right manner ๐
We go again in training on Monday ๐

Hoops vs Golborne
William Fosters was the venue for a top of the table clash between two top sides and what a game it turned out to be..
1st half, Golborne came out the stronger of the two as the Hoops struggled to break them down. Not many chances in the first half but Golborne managed to grab a goal right on the whistle as they edged the first half.
Second half, a change in formation saw a much improved perfomance, but getting a result was soon made even harder as Goldborne grabbed a second. Soon after, Hoops finally got on the scoresheet as Emily smashed a penalty home which really invigorated the Hoops as we started to push forward. Chance after chance followed and the equaliser finally came as Lilia capitalised following a corner, much to the girls delight. But this was again short-lived as Golborne took the lead from a long range strike. Multiple attacking changes followed as the Hoops pressed for the equaliser. Despite all the pressure, Golborne's keeper pulled off some superb saves to narrowly take the win.
Naturally disapointed to lose, but this was a fantastic game to watch and credit to both teams for the manner it was played.
Half way in the cup and we find ourselves in an unfamiliar position, but this is credit to the Wigan Girls League strength this season and we'll be back stronger ๐ช ๐
PPoM - ๐ Orla - lots of hard work and determination to get up and down the whole game and was unlucky not to have more opportunities in the attacking third.
CPoM - ๐ Isla - strong at the back again and dealt with the pace of Golbornes attack
๐ Lilly - nonstop hard work in Midfield and was unlucky not to grab a deserved goal for her performance.

Weโre proper proud to say weโre opening our second EPiC MEN group on Thursday 12th March! ๐๐ผ๐๐ฝ
When we first started EPiC MEN, we just wanted a space where lads and blokes could turn up, have a brew, and not have to pretend theyโre fine.
Whatโs happened since? Well, itโs been life-changing.
Weโve seen men walk in with heavy shoulderโs, not sure what to expect. And then come back the week after.
And the week after that!
And thatโs the thing.
Men donโt just come once. They stay.
Because when you create a space thatโs safe, with no judgement, no pressure, and no big speeches, just honest conversations and proper peer support, it absolutely works.
So weโre growing ๐
Our second EPiC MEN group will be at William Foster Playing Fields, where we already run Crisis Harbours on Mondays and Fridays. Itโs a brilliant, welcoming building, free parking, good facilities and it already feels like home to us.
We genuinely canโt think of a better place to start the next chapter.
Menโs mental health matters.
And men deserve spaces that feel safe, local, and theirs.
If youโve been thinking about coming along to EPiC MEN, take this as your sign.
Thereโll be a brew waiting for you ๐๐ผ๐๐ฝ

Hoops Vs Lionesses
Sat morning at Fosters was the destination for a clash between two sides in top form so far in the cup competition.
Lionesses came out with great intent in the first half and made it difficult for the Hoops to push forward due to strong competitiveness in midfield. Despite both teams creating chances, it was the Lionessss who took the lead into half time following a long range freekick.
Second half, Hoops came out to get back into the game with a more attacking approach as we started to create some chances, this also left us open to the counter, as we fell further behind before a screamer from Emily got us back into the game. But it wasnt to be, as the Lionesses took advantage to deservedly come away with the three points.
Not a great perfomance by us. But after two outstanding performances, 8 girls at Wigan trials the night before and two defenders missing, It was hard to maintain the organisation and tempo we've seen of late.
Sometimes you have setbacks, but I'm confident these girls can yet again showcase just how good they are. We learn from this and we go again ๐ช
CPoM ๐ Brooke - Faultless, good on the ball and great timing in the tackle.
PPoM ๐ Lilly - Under pressure at the back but stood strong and cut out numerous attacks.

Hoops (a) vs Lancon Red
Early Sat morning, the Hoops squad made the long Journey up to Preston to take on a strong Lancon Red Side.
After losing last time around and 10 of the Hoops players taking part in Wigan school girls trials just over 12 hours prior. The girls had a difficult task ahead to come away with something from the game.
Straight from kickoff, the Hoops intent was clear for all to see. The desire to win our 50/50's and focus on the game plan, meant we controlled the first half. After a few missed chances, our ability from range gave us the lead, as Evie opened the scoring, pouncing on a strong effort from Lilly. This was quickly followed up by two outstanding long range strikes from Ada and Lilly, who dominated in midfield.
Second half, Lancon came out determined to get back in the game, but it was Hoops who again remained in control. As the game progressed and Lancon changed to a more attacking formation, the hardworking Emily found more space behind the lines to drive through to grab a couple of goals, which were more than deserved after a quality performance in the number 9 role.
Overall, super proud after the girls delivered our strongest performance as a team, every girl gave 100% from start to finish and shown great maturity and confidence throughout the game.
PPoM - ๐ Flick - Calm and composed on the ball and anticipation to intercept was 1st class.
CPoM - ๐ Emily - non stop pressing from the front rewarded with two fine goals
๐ Orla - Didn't put a foot wrong, gave great balance to the team and drove forward with purpose
We continue onto our next fixtures knowing we are only just getting started in the cup group, and we need to keep performing if we are going to carry on doing well in this strong group.

Hoops Vs Burscough
A cold but beautiful morning @ Leisure United William Foster as Hoops took on Burscough, in what is always a high quality and competitive game.
On the back of some good form, Hoops came out strong yet again, immediately putting the opposition under pressure in their own half. Burscough defended deep and strong to keep our chances to a minimum. It remained that way until Ada picked up the ball at the edge of the box and smashed in a great goal to give the Hoops a deserved lead through to half time.
Second half remained the same, plenty of Hoops pressure without too many clear cut chances. Burscough always remained a threat on the break with some neat play between their attackers being cut out by our strong defence. As the second half progressed, Hoops had a spell of multiple chances on the back of pressure on goal kicks. A few of these chances fell to Lyla which narrowly went wide on 2 or 3 occasions. Eventually, the ball fell again to Lyla on the bounce and this time, Lyla struck a worldie of a volley over the keepers head, which was met with huge delight from the girls.
Overall, another strong performance against a great side and really pleased with how many chances we are Limiting the opposition too.
PPoM ๐ Lyla - a great perfomance capped off with a superb goal โฝ๏ธ
CPoM ๐ Ada & Lilly - outstanding together in the middle of the park. Ada scored a screamer whilst Lilly moved to RB when needed and took care of the threat from the wing.
In the light of this weekends events. I'm delighted to take part in a great game, played in the right spirit and spurred on by encouraging parents

First game of the Wigan Girls League u11s champions Cup as the Hoops took on the Coyotes at William Fosters.
Hoops made a really strong start this morning as some neat passing going forward, resulted in CPoM Layla finding multiple through balls of which the Hoops strikers capitalised. We contiued that way through the first half as we produced some of the best football of our season and deservedly went in at HT with a strong lead.
Second half the Hoops remained the stronger team as we continued to push forward. Although the passing was not as strong as the 1st half, our attacking play was still relentless with Lilia being on top form in front of goal.
Couldn't be happier with the performance today as we start the competition off in style.
CPoM ๐ - Layla - deadly going forward and delivered some outstanding through balls
PPoM ๐ - Isla & Lilia - Isla was again dominant at the back today and gave the biggest smile as she scored a great goal. Lilia was on fire in front of goal today and I was really impressed with how often she was in the right place at the right time to finish off her chances.
Great performance all round today as we go into our next fixtures with confidence
Thanks to Coyotes for a great game played in the right spirit ๐
