☘️ Match Report ☘️

Rylands Sharks 22 - 42 Wigan St Patrick’s

With no league fixture this weekend, we travelled to Rylands Sharks for a friendly match.

The lads started slowly, conceding three tries in the opening 10 minutes to fall 16-0 behind. However, after a motivational talk from the coaches and a determination not to let their heads drop, the team responded brilliantly.
Strong defensive efforts from George and Harrison stopped Rylands in their tracks and prevented them from building on their early lead. Isaac M got us on the scoreboard first, stepping his way through the Rylands defensive line. Soon after, the ball passed through several pairs of hands before George spotted a gap and found Mark, who crossed for our second try. Isaac M then grabbed his second try in the corner, and with Charlie's excellent kicking game converting our tries, we went into half-time level at 16-16.

We knew Rylands would come out strong in the second half, and that's exactly what they did. However, our forwards in the middle—Freddie B, Samy, Paddy and Harry—made life difficult for them, refusing to let them break through. When they tried to attack our edges, brilliant defensive work from Kane, Freddie H, Isaac G, Carrick and Jack shut them down quickly.
Our attack also caused plenty of problems. Charlie made significant yards to give us excellent field position, while Blake's strong carries continually put us into scoring opportunities. Isaac R produced a powerful run to score under the sticks, while Isaac M's pace and footwork earned him a further three tries. Harrison then showed tremendous determination to score our final try of the game in the corner.

Today's performance showed exactly what this team is capable of. To come back from 16-0 down and go on to win demonstrates how hard the lads have worked in training and how well they play as a team.
Well done to every player. Every single one of you played your part in today's victory, and you should all be proud of yourselves. 🟢⚫️

A brilliant achievement by the whole squad.
A special well done to Isaac R, Harrison, Freddie B, George and Kane from our U12s, who all played their part in securing the victory.

Also, a special mention to Will, who unfortunately couldn't play due to his broken ankle but still came down to support his teammates from the sidelines.

We'd all like to wish Will a speedy recovery after breaking his ankle during today's game.
He'll be in hospital tomorrow for surgery and then faces a lengthy period on the sidelines. It's a tough setback, but we know his determination and character will see him through.
Keep your head up, Will. We know you'll come back stronger than ever, and everyone at the club is right behind you every step of the way 💚🖤

☘️ Match Report ☘️

Wigan St Pats 0 - 18 Crosfields

Today we welcomed Crosfields to Clarington Park for the next round of our league campaign. With only 14 players available, we knew it would be a tough test.

The lads were outstanding in defence, especially during the first half. Harrison put in a tremendous performance, making multiple tackles and causing real problems for the Crosfields attack. Samy was a powerful presence throughout, with strong runs and big tackles that made life difficult for the opposition.
Thanks to a huge team effort, we went into half-time only 4-0 down, which reflected the determination and hard work shown by everyone on the field.

The second half brought more of the same commitment and resilience. Harry carried the ball strongly, making it difficult for Crosfields to contain him, while Isaac G produced more than one try-saving tackle, including a fantastic effort that forced a player into touch and won possession back for the team.

There were several moments when the game could have swung either way, but Crosfields managed to edge further ahead, with the match finishing 18-0. The final score certainly doesn't reflect how well the team performed, and every player should be incredibly proud of their effort and attitude.

A special mention goes to George, who made his debut for the club today. He made an immediate impact with some excellent runs and determined defensive work.

We would also like to mention Will, who unfortunately suffered a broken ankle during today's game and will be sidelined for the coming weeks. Everyone at the club wishes you a speedy recovery, Will — we look forward to seeing you back soon.

Well done to all the lads on a fantastic team performance. 💚🖤
