Wigan St Patricks 38 - 4 Saddleworth Rangers

Today we welcomed Saddleworth Rangers to Clarington Park, and what a game it turned out to be!
From kick-off, the lads came out with fire in their bellies, ready and raring to go, putting everything they’ve been working on in training into practice.
It wasn’t long before George crossed the line for our first try of the game. His quick feet and fast pace saw him dodge through the Saddleworth line to score under the sticks, with Charlie adding the conversion to give us a great start.
Closely followed by Isaac M, who crossed the line following some great work and passing down the line.
Saddleworth certainly didn’t make it easy for us and tested us defensively. Adam caused problems on his wing making multiple tackles not allowing anyone through to score, while Isaac R made a brilliant one-on-one tackle with a rip to regain possession. He then made significant yards to get us back into a great try-scoring position.
The hard work from our forwards Freddie B, Oyin and Paddy consistently got us into great field positions which allowed Freddie B to charge over the line and score, followed by George with his second of the match. With Charlie converting three of our tries, we went into half-time 22–0 up.

The lads knew not to be complacent and that things can change quickly, so they started the second half with the same intensity as the first.
It wasn’t long before the dynamic duo of Isaac R and Isaac M worked together to create a well-earned try.
Saddleworth were still very much in the game and, following a mistake from St Pats, they took their opportunity and scored in the corner.
The lads responded brilliantly, with a kick forcing an error and Isaac M picking up the ball from a scrum and running it in to score his third try of the match!
Then, with less than a minute to go, a moment of magic from George saw him kick and chase to score his third try of the game! Charlie stepped up to add the conversion, bringing the game to a close.

👏 Final score: St Pats 38–4 Saddleworth Rangers 👏

It was a brilliant game to watch, and although there were some outstanding individual moments, this win was very much a team effort.
Each and every one of you should be incredibly proud of that performance today. The teamwork, effort, determination and commitment from start to finish were fantastic.

Wigan St Patrick’s 14 - 4 Culcheth Eagles

🏉 What a way to return after the summer break! 🏉
Today we welcomed Culcheth Eagles to Clarington Park for our first game back, and what a game it was! 🔥
The lads have worked incredibly hard throughout the summer in training, preparing for the second half of the season, and their hard work certainly showed today.
The opening few minutes were evenly matched, with both teams putting in some fantastic defensive efforts and neither side willing to give anything away. The deadlock was eventually broken when Kane crossed in the corner following some brilliant passing down the line. Culcheth responded with a try of their own, taking us into half-time level at 4–4.
The second half saw the lads determined not to allow any further tries and taking every opportunity that came their way. George produced a fantastic full-length try, followed shortly afterwards by his second of the match! 👏🔥
There were some tremendous defensive performances too. Freddie H put in some crunching tackles, making sure the Culcheth attack couldn't break through. Blake was outstanding at both ends of the pitch, making things extremely difficult for the opposition, while Patrick C protected the edges brilliantly with some excellent defensive work and tackles.
Every single player contributed today, showing great teamwork, determination and effort from start to finish. 💪
You should all be incredibly proud of your performance today, boys!
