Earlier this year, I had to practice what I preach.

I was dealing with personal issues, running on empty, and heading straight for burnout.

So, I made the call to step back from my 1-to-1 coaching.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one.

I couldn't guide others toward energy and clarity while ignoring my own tank being empty.

I took the time I needed, got grounded again here in the Lakes, and did the work.

Now? I’m back. Reset, fully charged, and ready to get back to what I love most.

This reset only reinforced why I coach the way I do.

I keep my roster intentionally small—focusing on a select group of clients rather than running a high-volume factory.

You get high proximity, deep focus, and a coach who actually gets what it means to go through the fire and come out the other side.

We connect deeply. We laugh, we build real momentum, and when life gets heavy, I sit in the shift right alongside you.

To keep things seamless, I offer flexible evening and weekend sessions so you never have to scramble your schedule.

If everyone around you thinks your life looks fine, but secretly you're feeling flat, uninspired, or just coasting... it's time to bring the spark back.

I'm officially reopening space for a few new 1-to-1 clients.

Drop me a message and let's talk.

Another part of the retreat is officially sorted.

We paid Julian's deposit yesterday, so The Cumbrian Chef is joining us at Brettargh Holt in January.

And I'm really pleased about this one.

Food was something I wanted to get right this time.

We learned a lot from the first retreat. Some things worked brilliantly and there are other things I've wanted to do differently this time around.

Food is one of them.

I don't want ā€œcanteen foodā€.

And I definitely don't want everyone sitting there feeling like they have to be good because they're away on some kind of wellbeing weekend.

I want us to eat really well.

Good ingredients. Proper food. Plenty of it.

Food you look forward to rather than something that's just been included because apparently people need feeding.

Julian will be cooking our main meals across the weekend, and I've been looking through some of his work today.

I think we're going to be alright šŸ˜‚

We've also got Ruth joining us to talk about gut health and nutrition, so food is going to be part of some really interesting conversations over the weekend too.

But when we sit down to eat, I want us to do something fairly revolutionary.

Eat it. Enjoy it.

Without somebody turning dinner into another bloody lesson.

January is starting to come together now.

And I can't wait.

Want to know more about the retreat just DM me or comment the work RETREAT and I will send you the details.

The photo is an example of Julian's work. We're still putting together the menu for January.

I learned quite a lot from running the first retreat.

Most of the feedback was brilliant.

But not all of it.

And I think if you're going to ask people for feedback, you've got to be prepared to actually listen to the bits you don't particularly want to hear.

One of those was the accommodation.

We stayed at Rydal Hall last time and while it's in an incredible location, some of the rooms were pretty dated.

It was also busy.

There were other people around, other things going on and although we had our own areas, it never really felt like the place was ours.

So I was quite picky when I started looking for somewhere for January.

This is one of the bedrooms at Brettargh Holt.

And this time we've got the whole bloody mansion (with our own private chef)

No other groups staying there.

No random people wandering around.

Just us.

18 people for three nights.

I also wanted bedrooms that you'd actually be happy disappearing back to for an hour.

Because you might want to.

There'll be plenty happening over the weekend, but I'm not filling every bloody minute of it.

If you want to go upstairs, shut the door and have a nap, crack on.

Nobody is coming to find you because you've missed something you're ā€œsupposedā€ to be doing.

That's probably one of the biggest things I've learned since the first retreat.

It's not just about getting the sessions right.

The whole experience has to be right.

And I'm putting a lot more thought into that this time.

I’ve been thinking about something after a couple of conversations I’ve had this week.

Do you actually need a reason to go on a retreat?

I think I’ve probably been talking about BREAKFREE as if you need to have something going on in your life before you’d want to come.

But what if you’re actually doing OK?

Nothing particularly wrong.

Life is just… life.

You’re busy. Work needs doing. Other people need things from you. There’s always something that needs sorting out.

And you just keep going.

I know I’ve spent plenty of my own life doing exactly that.

So perhaps BREAKFREE isn’t about needing three days away at all.

Maybe you just want them.

Three days where you’re not trying to sort everyone else’s s**t out and you’ve actually got some time to think about yourself.

We’re not going to fix anyone in Cumbria.

And nobody is leaving on Monday morning transformed into some shiny new version of themselves.

That’s bo****ks.

But if you go home feeling better than when you arrived and with a bit more of an idea about what you want from 2027, I’ll take that.

So maybe ā€œDo I need a retreat?ā€ isn’t really the question.

Maybe it’s just…

ā€œWould I bloody love three days like that?ā€

We’ve got 12 places left for January.

If you’ve been watching all this and wondering about it, message me.

You don't have to be falling apart to know something needs to change.

I think I've made this mistake myself more times than I care to admit.

You keep going.

Work gets done.

You deal with whatever needs dealing with.
You look after other people.

From the outside everything probably looks OK.

But you never really stop long enough to ask yourself how you're actually doing.

Or what you want.

I've spent a fair bit of my own life like that.

And I know I'm not the only one.

That's one of the reasons I wanted to create the BREAKFREE Retreat.

Yes, we're staying in an incredible place and we've got some brilliant people joining us.

But that's not really the point.

The point is having three days away from your normal life where you've actually got some space to think about you.

Where am I right now?
What isn't working anymore?
What do I want more of?
What needs to change?

I want people to arrive on the Friday, probably carrying a million things around in their heads, and leave on Monday feeling rested, clearer and hopefully knowing a bit more about what they want from the year ahead.

We're not going to fix your life in a weekend.

That's bo****ks.

But sometimes getting away from it for a few days gives you the chance to see things you can't see when you're right in the middle of it.

If you've been watching me talking about the retreat and quietly wondering whether it might be for you, message me.

You don't have to be ready to book anything.

Just come and have a chat with me.

When was the last time you had three days where nobody needed anything from you?

No work.

No endless list of things you should be doing.

Just some proper space for you.

That’s a big part of why I created the BREAKFREE Retreat.

I didn’t want a weight loss retreat.

I didn’t want three days talking about food.

And I didn’t want to fill every minute with activities until everyone needed another holiday afterwards.

I wanted space to rest, think, talk, learn and work out what you actually want next.

From 15th to 18th January 2027, we’re taking over Brettargh Holt Mansion in Cumbria.

Three nights.

Great food.

Coaching.

Breathwork.

Meditation.

Nutrition.

Conversation.

Downtime.

And a chance to be looked after for a change.

Six people have already booked.

There are 12 places left.

£1,200, payable as four monthly payments of £300.

Or £1,100 if paid in full.

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the work I want to do next.

For years, people have found me because they wanted help with their weight, emotional eating, binge eating or food noise.

And I’m incredibly proud of that work.

But the longer I’ve done this, the clearer something has become.

Food is very often where the problem shows up.

It isn’t always where the problem starts.

And whether someone loses weight through dieting, medication, surgery or anything else, there is still a person underneath all of that.

A person with patterns, beliefs, emotions, an inner critic, relationships, responsibilities and a life.

That’s the part I’m increasingly interested in.

I’m not leaving emotional eating behind.

I’m widening the conversation.

Because I think some of the most important work begins when we stop asking:

ā€œHow do I control my food?ā€

And start asking:

ā€œWhy do I keep getting stuck in patterns I desperately want to change?ā€

I’d genuinely love to know if this resonates with you.

How much of your life are you actually choosing?

And how much is being driven by habits, emotions, fears, expectations and patterns you've repeated for years?

This week I ran a workshop called Who Is Leading Your Life?

We explored why the behaviour we keep trying to change is often only the end of the story.

The eating.
The scrolling.
The procrastinating.
The people pleasing.
The avoiding.

And what can happen when we create a little space between what happens to us and what we do next.

Situation → Pause → Choice → Response

The pause doesn't guarantee you'll make the "right" choice.

It gives you access to a choice.

I've decided to make the full workshop replay freely available.

No sign-up.
Nothing to buy.

Just 45 minutes of coaching that I hope gets you thinking differently.

Details in the first comment.

If you watch it, I'd love to know:

Do you find yourself empty at the end of the day?

All that’s left is the warm glow of the inside of the fridge in your darkened kitchen after everyone’s gone to bed.

You are not alone….

I see you because once I was you.

If you’re ready to finally end the battle with food, and the overeating and end food noise for good drop me a DM and let’s have a chat.
