🦁 SEASON OPENER — FULL-TIME 2-2 🦁

Yesterday, the Golden Lion started their season with a positive result, with both teams taking a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Lion Derby! 💪🏾

We went 1-0 down early, but LB Clemo stepped up before half-time with an absolutely pearler of a goal to make it 1-1. 🔥

The Lions really could have been 4-1 up at the break if we had taken our chances, with Hayden Williams and Tyler Westwood both making their Golden Lion debuts. 💛🦁

Second half, we were the better side but unfortunately went 2-1 down against the run of play. Sam came incredibly close with a glorious volley, but eventually he wasn’t to be stopped! 😤

A great pass from Nyah McInnis found Sam in behind the defence, who stayed onside, went one-on-one with the opposition keeper and calmly slotted it into the bottom-left corner to make it 2-2! ⚽🔥

A fantastic effort from all the lads and a great team performance to get the season underway with a point. 👏🏾🦁

RG Pheasant 2-7 The golden | Preseason Friendly

Sunday morning saw The Golden Lions take on local rivals RG Pheasant in our fourth preseason friendly, with the boys securing a resounding 2–7 victory! 🦁🔥

The Golden Lions made a bright start and took an early 1–0 lead, but RG responded strongly to level the score just before half-time.

The second half belonged to the Lions. The boys played some really good football, moving the ball around with confidence and creating chance after chance. Our pace, power and height proved too much for RG, while our clinical finishing punished a strong opposition side.

A special mention goes to Adam Zerhouni 👏🏾 Our left winger was a constant threat, causing havoc down the wing throughout the game and deservedly earning Man of the Match honours 🏆

A huge shout-out also goes to Dion, who produced a fantastic penalty save! 🧤👏🏾
