Old Wulfs - Wednesbury Sports

We welcomed Wednesbury to Colton Hills for our final game of the season. We met earlier in the year and it was a tight game with Wednesbury edging it on the day.

The first 10 minutes today was the same. Chances came and went with some very positive football on display. It was Wednesbury who struck first and took full advantage into half time.

2nd half was much of the same blood and thunder with Wednesbury extending their lead. However we were unfortunate not to add to our goal tally with some unlucky misses and some excellent goal keeping from the opposition.

Managers players today went to Mason and Zak who were in the thick of all action taking place trying to get the team going forwards.

Parents voted Thaiyo for their player as he was exceptional at the back.

So that 2025/26 season wrapped up and we look back on what we feel has been a real positive time for all at Old Wulfs.

The progression from day 1 can be seen and in all honesty matches and results haven't always reflected what the lads have done on the pitch.

All the coaches are proud of how the lads are shaping up not just as players , but as a team and we are happy to have them all here with us.

A big thank you to all of them and to all their families as well rain or shine you are there supporting the boys and you have made it the right sort of environment for these lads to grow.

Roll on 2026/27

Old Wulfrunians East under 11s are supporting Woolavington FC and Harvey!!!

Happy birthday Harvey !!!

💔15-year-old Harvey who plays for Woolavington FC in Somerset is facing stage 4 brain cancer. The club have retired his number as he will now no longer be able to play again. For those who understand what stage 4 brain cancer means, you’ll know that time is precious and the family are literally taking each day as a blessing, but time is running out. Right now, our focus is making sure that every single day he has left is filled with as much love, kindness, and connection as possible.

Harvey celebrated his 15th birthday just two weeks ago, and we want to keep that feeling going — to show him that people far beyond his immediate world are thinking of him, rooting for him, and sending him strength.

We would love every team reading this to take a moment to send Harvey a birthday card. A few words from your players, a simple message, even just a signature — it all adds up to something truly meaningful. Imagine the impact of dozens, even hundreds, of cards arriving just for him.

Let’s come together as a community and give Harvey something unforgettable: the feeling that he is surrounded by support, care, and love.

Please send birthday cards to:

Team Grassroots
3 Boldon Lane
South Shields
Tyne and Wear
NE34 0AR

We will collect and forward every card to Harvey.

Thank you for helping us make this happen.

Old Wulfs - Kinver Colts

At last finally a home game and we welcomed an opponent we played early in the season. That day they won comfortably but we were a brand new side back then and it would be interesting to see if we had improved. After last week's result we were keen to make a good showing of ourselves. However the Omens were not good, after days of glorious sunshine the rain decided to make an appearance last night, the grass hadn't been cut making it an interesting challenge and the ref didn't arrive.

His loss as the game was nothing short of brilliant. A really enjoyable game of football which left everybody wanting more. We opened our account for the day after a brilliant thorough ball from Daniel found Mo running through on goal with the opposition keeper advancing on him. He took the ball in his stride and deftly lobbed him with the ball nestling in the back of the net.

2nd goal didn't take long to follow after some brilliant keeping from the opposition goalkeeper kept the ball out twice before Kyle doing what all good strikers up followed in and smashed the ball past the keeper. Mason S continued the exploits after another great through ball this time by Sam found him open and he slotted the ball past the on rushing keeper. Kinver wasn't there to just watch us score goals and at half time had found 2 of their own with some brilliant strikes making it a very competitive game.

2nd half and the roles swapped with Kinver banging in 3 goals to take the lead in the game. But the goals didn't dry up for us either. Sandwiched in Kinvers goals Kyle grabbed his second after a quick throw in from George found him, he then created space for himself and he unleashed a strike from distance past the keeper and with mere seconds left to play Lennon raced through on goal.

One on one he was bundled to the floor PENALTY. He dusted himself off and with no shred of pressure scored to tie up the game. Final whistle and everyone could breath 🤣 what a game.

Both teams were playing some very good passing football so heavens know what the game would have looked like if the grass was like a bowling green.

Parents voted for Mo as their player after his goal contribution and his constant running at the opposition defence.

Managers award was split between Daniel and Maison C who hurried and harried the opposition midfield all game and were very confident on the ball.

Thank you to Kinver for a very competitive game and for their coach reffing the game in lieu of the ref not turning up.

If not for coaches and people like that games wouldn't happen and we wouldn't have been able to play that game at all.

Next week marks our last game of the season and both myself and Craig are both in agreement that this has been a very productive season and can't wait to go again next season.
