Cycle Strength Helping cyclists climb faster! Helping cyclists over 40 build strength and power to improve hill climbing, without hours on the bike or endless cardio sessions.

Six weeks in. Two huge cycling challenges ahead. And Steve has started strong! 💪🚴

In May 2027, Steve Hughes will be taking on the legendary Fred Whitton Challenge.

Then, just a month later, he'll be heading to France for La Marmotte.

Two seriously demanding events. Both requiring strength, endurance and the ability to keep producing power when the climbs get tough.

Steve joined Cycle Strength six weeks ago, and we've been working on building the foundations for both challenges.

Not simply riding more miles, but combining structured cycling sessions with progressive strength training.

And the early signs are encouraging.

✅ Consistently completing his training sessions
✅ Feeling stronger and more comfortable with the workload
✅ Building a routine that fits around work and family life
✅ Developing the foundations for the bigger training blocks ahead

He's even getting himself into the garage on cold, dark mornings to get the work done! 😂

Here's Steve sharing his thoughts after his first six weeks.

The Fred Whitton and La Marmotte aren't won in May and June. The preparation starts now.

If you're over 40 and have a big cycling goal for 2027, don't wait until January to start thinking about it.

2027 STARTS NOW.

It's Sunday evening. Another week of training done. But are you any closer to your 2027 goals?

Or are you about to start another Monday doing exactly what you did last week?

Same Zwift sessions.

Same weekend rides.

Same uncertainty about whether it's actually moving you forward.

Look, I love seeing cyclists out enjoying their bikes. Not every ride needs to be structured, and not everybody needs a coach.

But if you've got a goal that genuinely matters to you, you owe it to yourself to give it a proper go.

October is a fantastic opportunity to get things moving.

There's time to build the foundations, develop endurance, get stronger and turn that work into real cycling performance before your important events next year.

But that opportunity gets smaller every week you wait.

I've spent this week talking about the importance of getting your training organised and putting your hand up if you want help.

So here's my final invitation for this week.

If you're ready to stop guessing and start making proper progress, let's talk.

👇 Comment START below or send me a DM. I'll be in touch personally to discuss your 2027 goals and how Cycle Strength could help you achieve them.

Next spring, I want you looking back at October as the month you finally got serious about your training.

2027 STARTS NOW. Let's get to work. 💪

"I'd love to train properly, Andy. I just don't have the time."

I hear this a lot.

And I understand it.

Work is demanding. Family comes first. Weekends disappear quickly.

But here's the thing.

You don't need to train like a professional cyclist to make serious progress.

You need to make the time you've got work harder for you.

Two properly planned strength sessions can achieve far more than randomly visiting the gym when you feel like it.

Three or four purposeful rides can be more valuable than simply collecting miles without a plan.

And knowing when to recover is every bit as important as knowing when to push.

That's how I approach coaching cyclists over 40.

We build the programme around your life, not the other way around.

If lack of time has been your reason for putting off getting help, let's talk about what's actually possible.

👇 Comment START or send me a DM. You might be surprised by what we can achieve with the time you've already got.

I'm looking for cyclists who are serious about making 2027 their strongest season yet.

Not professional athletes.

Not people with unlimited time to train.

Just committed cyclists over 40 who have a goal they genuinely want to achieve and are prepared to put the work in.

Maybe you've got a major event booked.

Maybe you're tired of plateauing.

Or perhaps you know that the way you've been training for the last few years simply isn't delivering what it used to.

I can help you change that.

Through Cycle Strength, I bring together personalised strength training, structured bike sessions and ongoing coaching to build a programme around your goals and your life.

We don't just plan the next workout. We plan the journey towards your goal.

I'm inviting members of this group who want help getting their training right to put their hand up.

👇 Comment START or send me a DM. I'll personally reach out to set up a conversation about your goals and whether we're a good fit to work together.

If you're serious about 2027, now is the time to act.

Two very different cyclists. Two very different goals. Both getting results.

This is exactly why I do what I do at Cycle Strength.

Over the last few weeks, I've had some fantastic results from riders I've been coaching, and two really stand out.

💪 Phillip Griffiths had spent years struggling with recurring lower back and glute problems. He'd tried different approaches, but nothing seemed to stick.

After working together from mid-July through September, here's what he had to say:

"I've had years of issues with on/off lower back/glute issues that won't go away trying different things. Been working with Andrew from mid July to end of September concentrating and have seen big improvements. No lower back issues, stronger on climbs and recovering quicker after the hills. Have seen pbs on hills already."

Not just feeling better. Climbing stronger, recovering quicker and setting new PBs.

🏆 Matt Boulton is at the other end of the competitive spectrum.

Having already defended his British Masters Individual Pursuit title, Matt has just finished 4th at the World Masters Track Championships in the Individual Pursuit!

A fantastic achievement on the world stage.

Now, Phillip and Matt have very different cycling ambitions, but the approach behind their training is the same.

Understand the goal. Identify what needs improving. Build a structured programme that brings strength and cycling together.

That's what I do.

And you don't have to be chasing a world championship to benefit from proper coaching.

Maybe you want to conquer a climb that's always beaten you, get through a long sportive feeling stronger, overcome a performance plateau or simply make 2027 your best cycling season yet.

Whatever your goal, you need a plan that actually gets you there.

So here's my question: Are you going to keep thinking about getting help, or are you ready to do something about it?

Don't wait until spring to wish you'd started earlier.

You're training regularly. So why aren't you getting faster? 🤔

You're getting your Zwift sessions done. You're riding at weekends. You might even be squeezing in a bit of strength training.

But your FTP hasn't really moved.

Those climbs aren't getting any easier.

And you still find yourself fading towards the end of a long ride.

Sound familiar?

The problem might not be how much training you're doing.

It might be how you're putting it all together.

I work with cyclists over 40 who have jobs, families and limited training time. They don't need somebody telling them to spend another ten hours a week on the bike.

They need a programme that makes sense, builds progressively and fits their lives.

That's what I do at Cycle Strength.

If you're putting the effort in but not getting the results you deserve, perhaps it's time for a different approach.

👇 Comment START or send me a DM. Let's have a chat about what's holding you back.

Your 2027 cycling season is being built right now. Whether you realise it or not.

Here's something I want you to think about.

If your biggest event is in May, what should you be doing in October?

More miles? More Zwift racing? Heavy weights? Just Zone 2?

The answer depends on where you are now and what you're trying to achieve.

That's why I developed the Cycle Strength 12-Month Training Cycle.

Stability → Endurance → Strength → Power → Maintain & Gain.

Each phase prepares you for the next, with strength training and cycling working together towards your goal.

But the important part isn't simply knowing the five phases.

It's knowing how to apply them to YOU.

Your fitness. Your available time. Your recovery. Your events.

That's where having a coach makes a difference.

If you want to stop guessing and start following a proper plan, I'm here to help.

👇 Comment START or send me a DM, and let's talk about what you're working towards.

Don't wait until spring to find out you've been doing the wrong work all winter.

12/10/2026

How much longer are you going to put off sorting your training out?

You know what you want to achieve next year.

Maybe it's a faster sportive, a tougher climb, your first race, or simply getting back to the level you know you're capable of.

But knowing what you want and having a plan to get there are two very different things.

I've spoken to plenty of cyclists who know they need more structure but keep putting it off.

Here's the problem.

Every month you wait is another month you could have been making progress.

You don't need endless training hours. You need to make the hours you've got count.

That's exactly what I help cyclists over 40 do.

So if you've been thinking about getting some proper help with your training, stop sitting on the fence.

Are you really going to wait until JANUARY to start training for your 2027 cycling goals? 🚴‍♂️

Because while you're shaking off Christmas…

Other cyclists could already be SMASHING PBs! 💪🔥

October is your opportunity to get ahead.

You've got around 10 weeks before Christmas to:

✅ Build serious strength
✅ Improve your endurance
✅ Develop more power on the bike
✅ Fix the weaknesses holding you back
✅ Build consistency before winter hits

Imagine arriving in February stronger, fitter and faster than you are NOW.

Not starting again.

Not desperately trying to get fit.

Already making progress towards your spring events.

That's what structured training can do.

At Cycle Strength, I combine personalised strength training with structured bike sessions to help cyclists over 40 achieve their goals.

No generic plans.

No wasted sessions.

Just purposeful training built around YOU.

I HAVE JUST 4 OCTOBER COACHING PLACES LEFT!

If you've got a big cycling goal for 2027, this is your chance to get your training properly organised before winter.

Whether it's your first 100-miler, a major sportive, a gravel race or simply becoming the strongest cyclist you've ever been…

Don't waste October waiting for January.

📩 DM me "START" and let's talk about your goals and how we can get you there.

OCTOBER → BUILD
CHRISTMAS → MANAGE
JANUARY → PROGRESS
SPRING → PERFORM

From recurring lower back problems… to climbing PBs. 🚴💪

This is exactly why strength training for cyclists isn't just about lifting heavier weights.

One of the cyclists I've been working with had spent years dealing with on-and-off lower back and glute issues.

He'd tried different things, but the problems kept coming back.

We started working together in mid-July and spent the next couple of months concentrating on building the strength, stability and resilience he needed to support his cycling.

His feedback:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"I've had years of issues with on/off lower back/glute issues that won't go away trying different things. Been working with Andrew from mid July to end of September and have seen big improvements.

No lower back issues, stronger on climbs and recovering quicker after the hills. Have seen PBs on hills already."

That's the bit I love.

No lower back issues.
Stronger on the climbs.
Recovering quicker.
And already setting PBs.

Strength training shouldn't be something that competes with your cycling.

Done properly, it should help you become a stronger, more resilient and more capable cyclist.

And if you're over 40, I'd argue that becomes more important, not less.

If you've got a cycling goal ahead and you know your body is currently the thing holding you back, send me a message.

Let's talk about what you're training for.
