When designing sessions, ask yourself;
How often would I see this in a match?
If you wouldnât, might be time to design/plan a new session.
For example:
Passing patterns, you wonât see children standing on cones waiting for a pass & then running to another cone.
Why you may ask?
- Simply put the cues and information presented in training are different to that of a match, making it hard for children to apply what they may have learned.
- If its patterns and routines that are practiced then you wonât see it again until that pattern or routine is set up.
With matches being fluid and unpredictable these moments do not appear.
- With patterns, routines & lots of instruction very little is learned by the child overall.
