TMG JDC Academy

When we had Paul Nicholson visit us on week 7, one of our students hit her first 180 during Paul's group. Within an hour of leaving the academy, Faith had already framed Paul's shirt he gave her. Such a proud moment for Faith, her parents and us. Well done Faith.

TMG Under 18's Dart Competition.

On Monday 17th we hosted an Under 18's dart competition at the TMG. This was fairly well attended for a comp that was thrown together a just few days before.

Well done to all those who attended. Some of the young players had never played darts outside of their bedroom before, and for a few, it was their first ever comp, or the furthest they have ever got in a darts competition before. All of the children showed great darts etiquette and they all chalked after they lost. You should all be very proud of yourselves, well done.

We decided to put some money in to sponsor the main singles event. No prize money amounts were previously disclosed, so the look on some of their little faces to be receiving as much as they did was great, they did not expect anything more than MINO, so a thank you also to our academy for the sponsorship.

Thank you also to Julie for helping with the set up, pack down and with assisting all day. And for making the numbers up in the pairs! And to Chris for his help on the day.

Again, thank you to the TMG Social club for allowing us to use the hall and for trusting me with running the bar for the day.

TMG Summer Club

Over the 2 weeks of this Summer Holidays, we put on 6 days of a Darts Summer Club for the kids. Every child who attended said they had lots of fun and most left each session absolutely knackered.
We started off with some tasks/activities - round the world, doubles practice, grouping, switching and a few team tasks. After break we had some mini matches, Round Robins singles or Pairs. Then after lunch came the exhausting part, a task involving the dart board and pool tables. The kids absolutely loved this challenge and by the end of it, they were knackered, so were we on the days we joined in!!! We finished the session with a 10 question quiz about darts.
This club was not just for the academy kids, it was open to all and we did have some new faces.

Definitely something to consider doing again next Summer.

Thank you to the Children who came, their Parents, to the TMG Social club for allowing us to use the venue, and more importantly, to my assistant Julie Gosling.

Hopefully we'll see you again next summer holidays.

Our venue are hosting an accreditation day on 10th September. If you or anyone you know are interested in aetting up a JDC academy, you will need to become Accredited by the JDC, please contact them and get yourselves booked in on the course. The course will run from 9.30am until 3pm ish. For further information, please contact us or the JDC Junior Darts Corporation directly. The Accreditation is delivered by the JDC.

Monday 17th August, at the TMG Social club in Worthing, 9am-3/3.30pm ish.
We are hosting a day of comps for the kids, not just the academy kids, but open to all aged 8-17.

The academy are putting in some sponsorship money towards some of the prize funds.

Doors open at 9am for the following,
Early bird starts at 9.30am - £3 entry - 401 x 3 legs
Open pairs - £5 per pair - 601 x 3
Singles - £5 - 501 x 5
Plate - £2 - 301 x 3
Format is subject to change, dependant on entry numbers.
There are still a limited number of spaces available, so please pre register with Laura (07852 148119).

Children will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. There will be bar snacks and drinks available to purchase on the day.
