⚽️ MATCHDAY | U11 WHITES ⚽️

Our U11 Whites made the short trip over to Wigginton this morning for an early kick-off, and the excitement was definitely in the air! The pitch was a little on the slippery side too… as a few of our boys soon discovered! 😂

What followed was a tense, end-to-end battle with very little between the two sides. Neither team really deserved to lose, but unfortunately we just fell short this time around. 👏

We dealt really well with a big attacking threat throughout, with JM putting in a stellar performance and mopping up pretty much everything that came his way — including a fantastic goal-saving clearance! 🔥

MW absolutely bossed it again in the middle of the park and deservedly got himself on the scoresheet. He even came close to pinging one in with his weaker foot! This left the coaching staff with a bit of a dilemma when it came to Player of the Match… but in the end, Captain MW deservedly took the accolade. 🏆👏

HS also put in a confident performance, constantly chasing down the opposition and playing on the front foot. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed by the parents on the sideline, who deservedly awarded him Parents’ Player of the Match. 🏆👏

Plenty of positives to take from today, and lots for the boys to build on. 💙🤍

Now we look forward to being back at home next week as we welcome Brooklyn Tigers!

⚽️ FIRST LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON! ⚽️

Yesterday saw the boys take to the pitch for their first league game of the season, and while it wasn’t quite the start we’d hoped for, there were plenty of positives to take away.

A few silly errors mixed with some frustratingly missed chances saw our opponents build up a healthy lead. But once the early-season rust started to wear off, the boys began to click and slowly clawed their way back into the game.

R NW grabbed himself a brace, while MW added a well-deserved goal. And in a funny twist, both boys went on to pick up some silverware too — Coaches’ Player of the Match for R NW and Parents’ Player for MW! 👏⚽️

One of the biggest positives was the communication and encouragement shown throughout the team. There were some fantastic recovery runs, great link-up play and plenty of players putting in the hard yards for each other.

A special shout-out to EJ, who did a brilliant job commanding the back line with some really positive communication, and to MW, who once again showed exactly why he’s El Capitano! 🫡💙

And finally, a huge mention for both teams. The sportsmanship shown from Fulford and R.I. was absolutely fantastic and a brilliant example of how grassroots football should be played. The boys were a credit to their clubs and did their badges proud. 👏

Well done to all the kids from Fulford and R.I. — take a bow! 👏

Now, next week sees the footballing journey take us on a short away day to Wigginton…

Tomorrow sees the boys heading up the A64 to Malton for the Brooklyn pre-season tournament — and it also sees the debut of the new kit, which I have to say is looking rather nice! 😍👕⚽

There are some tough opponents lined up, but as always, the boys will give it everything, work hard for each other and leave nothing out on the pitch. 💪

Hopefully we can put in some great performances, get some positive results along the way, and most importantly, enjoy ourselves!
