4 weekend days and 4 fishing trips, all with my mate AL, Bacon factory, Mushroom, Conifer and Brickyard respectively, fishing is tough but a funny time of year. Just good to get the bug back, now need to get organised and my head back in the game.

3 day festival at Redwood Park fishery, Huby. Held on Lagoon, Arc and Redwood Lake respectively.
After not fishing barely at all recently never mind matches and Redwood I thought I'd throw myself under the bus and enter this event.
I was rusty, unprepared and out of tune with the venue but I had 3 days fishing and learned loads. Day 2 was definitely my highlight catching 65lb but wasn't enough for even 2nd from last in section which gives you an idea of the standard. The third day I struggled with the most, just couldn't get anything going, could only catch 14.5m on the deck but definitely got my timings and bait choices wrong.
A lot of food for thought but these commercials are full of people who fish these places week in week out so would need to hammer them to get to a decent level, I do prefer natural waters but there is plenty to learn here too!
Great organised event with some very wise heads! Good to get out fishing again.
Tight lines, Adz.

He's back...Match Win! π£ππ¦Ύ
Only 3 trips this year, a trouty match at railway, a fruitless Don, was it time for a third time lucky clichΓ©?...
The answer is yes!
Yesterday fished the final the day of the river season opting to match fish the Ouse below York. From a pretty unfancied peg 4 I accumulated 3 bream and 2 big skimmers on underamed worm feeder tactics to give me a winning weight of 14lb 8oz and plenty of beer tokens to suit!
Brilliant day, fished well and nice to sit out in somewhat pleasant conditions! Third time is definitely a charm!

First trip of 2026 and not a good one!
Railway Pond Open Match...
Essentially drew peg 20 and fished a decent match rotating a 13m long line, 11m line off to an angle and a short 6m line. I also had a look shalla over each line. Baits relatively simple; pinkies, maggots, GB and a bit of choppy for a throw away line.
Typically this is not a good draw until spring time due to the fish pushing into the deeps in the winter months however with coloured water I was optimistic...
Unfortunately it just didn't fish. I had 5 bites all day (excluding 2 grabs at my plummet) 3 of which were trout which I landed, the other was a perch which I bumped and the last was a carp hooked last knockings unfortunately on my light elastic which meant I had no power to control it and it smashed me! Finished with the 3 trout for 2-12, no idea what I could have done differently it's just one of those days!
Onwards! Adz.

Not even a babies hand could tempt a fish in today's hangover open on the Ouse below York, had 1 tiny roach and performed a wheelspin to end the year π

After an incredibly poor result in the last open at the Railway Pond I returned this Christmas with REVENGE on the cards. I managed to bag a couple of the new trout as well as some nice silvers, 2 very short sessions on Xmas Eve and Day. Top kit challenge! π Mission accomplished.
Merry Xmas! ADA # # #
