We had a great few days mantrailing with Gerry from Jay K9 Mantrailing this week. Gerry is very knowledge and creative and lays trails that really get us thinking and learning!

There were thought provoking chats about how the weather and wind effects scent as well as some challenging trails for Ruby to follow and for us to problem solve as a team. Super proud of Ruby for her efforts on the trails shown here, thank you Gerry 🧡

We had another Scent Ops trial success at the weekend 🤩
Thank you Positively Canine for giving us the opportunity to search cool new places and for giving us lovely and constructive feedback as part of the trial.

Searching blind (where I don’t know where the hides are) is a great way for us to grow as a team. Take aways are, Monty knows his job and loves searching, his indication was 👌🏻 but he can sometimes go a little faster when searching than is optimal 😜 something for us to think about in our training.

Also, a shoutout to the venue My Happy Hounds which is definitely worth a visit, they have private hire fields and glamping pods, all set up with reactive dogs in mind 🧡

We have been a little quiet on facebook because UK Scent Sport offered us the opportunity to spend a week training with the incredible Wesley Visscher from Scent imprint for dogs

All of our minds have been blown by the learning (me and my dogs), in a good way! Spending the week with a group of supportive and kind trainers and their amazing dogs was brilliant, with lots of laughter along the way too. Super proud of what my own dogs contributed and achieved this week too, and their dedication to helping me learn 🫶

We are back at it today and very excited to pass on that learning and to use it to up-skill our trailing dogs 🤩

I’m super proud to share some team success in a recent Scent Ops trial!

Our lovely cattle dog entered her first ever scent work competition a few weeks ago, got a brilliant score and some very nice feedback. All the hard work put in by her and her owner really paid off 👏🏻 and they had a great time!
Trials and competitions are a great way to test yourself as a handler! I’m excited for what’s to come for this team.

My own dogs also had success recently and I am so proud of them too. Me and my dogs scored full marks for team work in both searches which makes me very happy 🙂 we also had a lot of fun that day! 🧡

Having a large community of wonderful dogs who share a love of scent based sports is amazing! The downside is the loss we feel when we lose one of those dogs. Last year two of our mantrailing dogs sadly died of cancer and so this year we are fundraising for the Animal Cancer Trust. We will be hosting an event later this year but if you would like to donate to this great charity you can use our just giving link 🧡
