Batumi Kendo

Hi there!

A training session and kyu grading took place in Tbilisi on Sunday, 15 February. Four kendoka from Batumi took their first examinations and passed! Congratulations to all of them, and many thanks to the GZAAT Kendo Club and the GKA for organising this event.

Kendo teaches us respect, connection, and support for one another, and we are grateful to share this journey as a team.

Hi there! It's the end of January. What does that mean? That's right—it's time to talk about how we started the year.

We didn't take any vacation time, and our first session was on January 2nd. We did a lot of kihon, and our youngest student had her first ji-geiko.

For our final training session of 2025, we decided to do something special. We performed 1,000 suburi, 100 of which were of 10 different types. It actually appeared to be much easier than expected, so we added bokuto-no-waza.

Step by step, practice by practice, our Kendo community in Batumi continues to grow.
We are grateful to everyone who trains with us and supports us.

Thank you all for your dedication, effort, and spirit — this is just the beginning.

🥋 GKA Seminar | November 28–30

Our club had the honor to take part in the GKA Seminar with Donatella Castelli Sensei.
This event marked an important milestone for us.

For our dojo, it was:
• our first official seminar
• our first cup competition

We are also proud to share that two of our members successfully achieved the Ikkyū rank during this event — a meaningful step on their Kendo path.

We would like to thank Donatella Castelli Sensei and the GKA team for the high-level instruction, organization, and invaluable experience.
This seminar gave us strong motivation to continue training and growing as a club.
