Guardiola’s possible next club revealed after Man City financial charges
an hour ago / Ronaldoyyds
Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly set their sights on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola should he leave the Citizens.

Guardiola is now the odds-on favourite to be the next manager to leave the Premier League following charges against Manchester City.

As per a report in L'Equipe, PSG is interested in signing the Spaniard should he become available soon.

The report added that the French Ligue1 champions have been interested in the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach since Mauricio Pochettino was in charge of the club.

Recall that Manchester City has been charged by the Premier League for over 100 alleged breaches of their financial rules.

Guardiola had previously claimed that he would leave the day he found out Man City had lied to him.

Meanwhile, Christophe Galtier has done well at PSG since being appointed manager of the Parisians this season.

But PSG believes Guardiola would be the better option in the long run.

Barcelona 'sign wonderkid Vitor Roque who has been dubbed 'the new Luis Suarez'
44 mins ago / autty
Barcelona have reportedly begun negotiations with Brazilian outfit Athletico Paranaense for 17-year-old wonderkid Vitor Roque.

The Catalan giants have contacted Athletico Paranaense technical director Luiz Felipe Scolari and CEO Alexandre Mattos to begin talks over bringing Roque to the Nou Camp, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Roque has already been compared to legendary former Blaugrana striker Luis Suarez for his killer instincts in the penalty area despite his young age.

The youngster does not turn 18 until February 28, but Barca are confident that they can strike up a deal that will bring him to the club in the summer.

He already has seven goals and three assists for the Furacao from 36 appearances, having joined in April 2022 shortly after turning 17.

Barca have reportedly outlined Roque as a young star with tremendous talent that can blossom into a world-beating No 9 at the club.

And important to their plan for the youngster is current talisman Robert Lewandowski, who has been one of the world's greatest No 9s in recent years.

Under the Poland international, the 17-year-old would have the opportunity to learn his craft from not only an extremely potent finisher, but a player that has brought leadership and professionalism to Barca since his summer arrival.

But the teenager is not thought to come cheap, with Furacao president Mario Celso Petraglia reportedly one of the toughest negotiators when it comes to parting with the club's young talent.

Athletico Paranaense paid around £4million for Roque less than 12 months ago, and will likely want to receive a big profit on their investment to allow the 17-year-old to move to Europe.

Which would present an issue for Barca, who have been warned by LaLiga chief Javier Tebas that there will be no big-money transfers for the cash-strapped Catalan giants this summer.

However, the Brazilian club are thought to be prepared to allow Barca to pay the reported £31-35m fee in installments, as the LaLiga side bid to stay competitive while also reducing costs.

And Barca will surely not anticipate too many delays in the negotiations, given that the player's agent is Alex Cury, Barca's former representative in Brazil.

The Brazilian starlet is thought to have turned down the chance to follow compatriot Endrick to Real Madrid in order to join Barca ahead of the 2023-24 season, according to Forbes.

Roque is currently taking the South American Under-20 Championship by storm, leading the way with six goals in the race for the golden boot, and is also hunting down Neymar's Brazilian nine-goal record in the competition.

5 possible Man City punishments after FFP charges
54 mins ago / Stamfordblue
Manchester City could face a points deduction or be expelled from the Premier League following allegations about FFP breaches.

The Premier League charged its currently champions with breaking the competition's rules on Monday morning following a long-running investigation. Breaches are alleged to have occurred between 2009 and 2018, with the Premier League alleging City breached rules requiring them to give "accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position".

If the charges are proven, there are a range of potential punishments on the table, including some extreme options - as Daily Star Sport will now run through.

According to rule W51 in the Premier League's rules, City could initially be suspended from playing matches. Quite how this would work in practice remains unclear, but it is an option open to the division's rulemakers.

The subsection reads: "Having heard and considered such mitigating factors, the Commission may suspend it [a club] from playing in League Matches or any matches in competitions which form part of the Games Programme or Professional Development Leagues for such period as it thinks fit."

Perhaps one of the more likelier options involves City receiving a points deduction. Juventus recently received a 15-point deduction following an investigation into the club's past transfer dealings, which is different to City's alleged breach.

Although the amount of points that could be docked from the club's current total is unknown, any deduction would likely have a significant effect on their position in the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola's side find themselves second in the league, hot on the heels of leaders Arsenal. A 15-point deduction would see them drop to ninth, while a heftier removal of points could see them face relegation danger.

A points deduction could also be applied in subsequent seasons, with City almost certain to challenge the commission's findings via legal routes.

The most dramatic punishment could see City removed from the Premier League altogether. However unlikely, the Premier League has the power to expel teams from the division.

If that were to happen, it is unclear where the current champions would go. They could apply to join the Football League, although that could be difficult with a finite number of teams already within the league structure.

Or they could apply to join the National League setup, a punishment that loomed over QPR in 2014 after they threatened to contest a potential fine for breaching Championship restrictions on spending.

While rule W51 in the Premier League's rulebook does not include mention of stripping titles as a potential punishment, it does leave plenty of room for manoeuvre with regard to consequences of rule breaches.

Rule W.51.10 states that the Commission can "make such other order as it sees fit," presumably including the ability to strip titles from any club who has won them.

City have proven themselves pretty good at winning titles in the last decade or so, accumulating three of them during the period of their alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018. They could now be at risk.

Rule W.51.9 states that the Commission can "order the Respondent [Manchester City] to pay such sum by way of costs as it shall think fit which may include the fees and expenses of members of the Committee."

What that boils down to is City be could faced with a fine for their alleged misdemeanours if they are proven.
