Call for International Volunteers (2026 Cohort)

The Abuburo Nkosuah Foundation (A.N. Foundation), a Ghana-based nonprofit organization committed to advancing nutrition, education, youth empowerment, and community wellbeing, invites applications from international volunteers who wish to gain hands-on, in-country nonprofit experience in Ghana.

This opportunity is open to students and professionals outside Ghana who seek practical exposure for personal development and/or academic credit, and who already have plans to be in Ghana during the volunteering period.

Volunteer Duration:
8–12 weeks (preferred)
Special consideration may be given to applicants available for less than 8 weeks, subject to role requirements.

Volunteer Roles:
Selected volunteers will be assigned to one or more of the following programme areas:

1. Nutrition Intervention Programme
- Eat Right Podcast
- Eat Right Community Outreach
- Supported Home Gardening Project

2. Education & Mentorship Programme
- Donate a Book Project
- Time with High Schoolers

3. Youth Empowerment & Certification Programme

4. Menstrual Hygiene & Education Programme

Eligibility & Conditions:
1. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
Applicants must be students or professionals who will already be in Ghana and are able to self-fund their airfare, accommodation, feeding, and personal expenses.
2. Volunteers should demonstrate a genuine interest in community development, public health, education, or social impact work.
3. Availability to actively participate in field and/or programme activities is required.

Application Requirements:

Interested applicants must submit the following:
1. A Letter of Interest outlining motivation, availability, and preferred programme area(s).
2. A Recommendation Letter from:
A lecturer or academic supervisor (for students), or
A current or past employer (for professionals).

Application Submission Timeline:
All applications must be submitted at least one (1) month prior to the intended volunteer start date to allow for review, coordination, and placement planning.

Who Should Apply
Individuals passionate about community development, nutrition, education, youth empowerment, or public health
Skills in writing, social media, design, photography, videography, communications, or media are an advantage.

Commitment, reliability, and willingness to learn are essential

As a volunteer, you will gain hands-on experience in community engagement, programme coordination, nutrition communication, youth engagement, mentorship, and stakeholder collaboration. You will also receive close guidance from the Foundation’s leadership team, expanding your professional network and building relevant skills for your academic and career growth.

A new month reminds us that growth begins with small, consistent actions and at the Abuburo Nkosuah (A.N) Foundation, our mission remains unchanged: to nurture lives through nutrition, education, and empowerment.

We’re grateful to our incredible partners, volunteers, and supporters who continue to make community transformation possible across Ghana. Together, we’re advancing our four programme arms which are the Nutrition Interventions, Education & Mentorship, Youth Empowerment & Certification, and Menstrual Hygiene & Education to build healthier, more resilient communities.

This November, we reaffirm our commitment to a Ghana where everyone has the opportunity to Eat Right, Learn Right, and Live Right.

Nutrition goes beyond what’s on our plate. It connects health, education, empowerment, and dignity.

At the Abuburo Nkosuah (A.N) Foundation, we embody this belief through our four interconnected programme arms:

Nutrition Interventions; Promoting nutrition-sensitive agriculture, establishing school and home gardens, and spreading awareness through the Eat Right Podcast, Eat Right Community Outreach and Supported Home Gardening Project.

Education & Mentorship; Inspiring students and youth through school outreaches, scholarship drives, and personal development mentorship.

Youth Empowerment & Certification; Providing young people with skills training, business support, and certification opportunities that prepare them for Ghana’s evolving job market.

The Right to Food Is a Human Right and Not a Privilege!

At the Abuburo Nkosuah (A.N) Foundation, we stand for a Ghana where every individual has access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food as a basic human right.
