A New Era for Ghanaian Sports

Ghana’s Parliament has officially passed the Sports Fund Bill, a landmark decision aimed at transforming how sports are funded and developed in the country.

The new law creates a dedicated Sports Development Fund to support athlete welfare, grassroots talent development, sports infrastructure, and capacity building for coaches and officials. For decades, many sporting disciplines have struggled due to inconsistent funding — this Bill seeks to change that narrative.

While the passage of the Bill is a major milestone, the real test lies ahead: effective implementation, transparency, and fair distribution of resources across all sports.

This is a bold step toward a stronger, more competitive Ghana on the continental and global sports stage. 🏈🇬🇭💪🏾

Hon Kofi Adams has succeeded in getting the Parliament of Ghana to pass the Sports Fund Bill today after months of great efforts by all stakeholders led by his able leadership.

We at GAFF are proud of this moment as an addition in the history of sports in Ghana.

This Sports Fund will enable more support for grassroots development all sporting disciplines in Ghana going forward.
