🚨🔵 CHELSEA FANS, DON’T OVERREACT TO TODAY’S 2-0 DEFEAT.
Chelsea lost 2-0 to Portsmouth in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Cobham today.
Yes, 2-0.
But this really isn’t a result worth losing your head over.
This was an international-break training match designed to give minutes and fitness to the players who remained at Cobham while several first-team stars were away with their countries.
No crowd.
No cameras.
No competitive pressure.
And, most importantly, several key players weren’t involved.
❌ Reece James — recovering from a hamstring issue
❌ Moisés Caicedo — dealing with a calf problem
❌ Marco Palestra — continuing his recovery
❌ Cole Palmer — managing a minor muscle issue
❌ João Pedro — building back after his knee problem
There are also encouraging signs.
🔵 Palestra has returned to first-team training.
🔵 João Pedro is working his way back to full fitness.
🔵 The injured players are all targeting the Premier League return against Bournemouth on October 10.
So if you see “Chelsea lost 2-0 to Portsmouth” flying around today, remember the context.
This wasn’t a competitive Chelsea match.
It was a fitness exercise during the international break.
The players who stayed behind needed minutes, rhythm and match sharpness.
The real Chelsea is judged when the Premier League returns.
So relax, Blues.
Don’t let a behind-closed-doors friendly ruin your weekend.
