Gibraltar Barbarians Under 10s were also in action this weekend and travelled to Algeciras to visit our friends at Bahia for the final game of the season.

A great end to the season with two competitive games played in intense heat. The coaches’ main focus was on maintaining width in both attack and defence, and making better use of space out wide. The players took this on brilliantly, showing real improvement in playing as a team rather than as individuals.

It was a closely fought encounter, with some brilliant tries from both sides across the matches.

A huge thank you to Bahia for their amazing hospitality after the games — it was greatly appreciated by everyone involved. We are already looking forward to attending the Bahia Beach Rugby Tournament in August.

Looking ahead to next season, we will be holding beach rugby sessions every Thursday in June at Sandy Bay, 6:30–7:30pm. This is a great opportunity for new players to try out a new sport in a fun and welcoming environment.

It has been a fantastic season for the squad, with players competing in the Andalucía Rugby comp, improving their skill sets week by week, enjoying the Tigers tour to Butlins, and most importantly building great friendships both on and off the field.

A fantastic afternoon of rugby for our U14s today as they took to the Guadiaro pitch in the glorious sunshine.
Two hard fought games, with the first vs Bahia. Our U14’s held a well deserved lead right up until the final seconds, when Bahía managed to sneak over the line for a dramatic finish.
Second game vs San Roque. After a tough first half against a strong host side, our U14’s showed incredible grit. They mounted a strong comeback, just missing out on the win but proving exactly what they are made of.
A huge thank you to both and for two excellent, hard fought games, and to San Roque for being brilliant hosts.
The results didn't quite go our way, but the heart, character, and determination shown by this team was unmatched. Heads held high, Team💪🏉🇬🇮

....and after out jet-setting exploits last weekend... we are back on the road again this weekend - Teams from the junior section take part in Torneo BYRUG in Marbella.

Gibraltar Rugby Junior’s Tour Report

Tigers Challenge – Minehead (Bank Holiday Weekend)

Over the bank holiday weekend, Gibraltar Rugby proudly took nearly 30 players from our U8, U9 and U10 squads to the renowned Tigers Challenge in Minehead—joined by around 70 travelling supporters including families and friends.

The festival brought together strong community clubs from South Wales, England and beyond, providing our young players with an excellent opportunity to test themselves against well-organised and highly structured opposition.

U8s – Tag Category Standouts

The U8s were simply outstanding in the Tag competition, winning 7 out of their 8 matches. Their energy, teamwork and confidence were evident throughout, and they proved to be one of the standout teams in their category.

U9s & U10s – Strong Performances Against Tough Opposition

Both the U9 and U10 squads competed brilliantly, finding it tough at times but finishing mid-table in their respective categories. While results only tell part of the story, the level of performance, resilience and improvement across the weekend was hugely encouraging.

Playing against such well-drilled teams has set a clear benchmark for our players and coaches. It highlighted just how competitive Gibraltar Rugby is, while also showing where we can continue to grow and develop.

More Than Just Rugby

Beyond the matches, the tour was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Tours like this are about far more than results—they bring together players, families and friends to create lasting memories and strengthen the Gibraltar Rugby community.

A Huge Team Effort

This trip would not have been possible without the incredible fundraising efforts from players and families over recent months. A special thank you also goes to our sponsor, Crucial Compliance, for their valued support in making the tour a reality.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers Challenge has once again proven to be an invaluable experience. It sets the bar for where we are and where we want to go—developing players, building confidence, and continuing to grow the game in Gibraltar

🏉 Gibraltar U16s Impress at Marbella Festival Cup!

Our U16s travelled to the Marbella Festival Cup this weekend and put in a fantastic performance, competing against some of the top youth teams from the Wales and Ireland.

The highlight of the tournament was a well deserved 7–5 victory over Maesteg Celtic, this seasons Welsh regional cup finalists and a team loaded with Ospreys pathway players. The boys showed real resilience sticking to their open running rugby and refusing to take a backwards step at any point, even against a really physical team.

We also faced top quality opposition including Bedlinog and Caerleon U16s, who had representatives in the Welsh Dragons pathways.
The tournament was fiercely competitive, with the three Welsh clubs taking the top 3 positions, but Gibraltar U16s finished a very credible 4th, demonstrating the strength and potential of our small squad.

The festival also featured Killarney from Ireland, and Marbella making it a true international competition.

A huge thank you to Rugby Tour Spain for organizing the event, and to Marbella Rugby Club for your fabulous hospitality.

👏 Well done to all the players, and supportive parents on Easter weekend, you’ve made Gibraltar Rugby proud!
