The result didn’t go our way, but the experience, teamwork, and character shown by every player are what matter most. We learn, we grow, and we come back stronger💚

Become Part of the Game – Start Your Refereeing Journey

Have you ever thought about becoming a football referee?

Refereeing is an exciting way to stay involved in football, develop confidence and leadership skills, make new friends, and even build a future career in the game. With football continuing to grow in Gibraltar, we are looking for young people who are passionate about the game and interested in becoming the next generation of referees.

The current minimum age to officially referee is 14 years old. However, due to growing interest from younger players, we are now encouraging interested 13-year-olds to register their interest early and begin learning about refereeing.

Young referees would begin officiating in the U8 age category and gradually progress through the age groups as they gain experience and confidence.

Importantly, you can continue to play football while also being a referee. You simply would not referee in the same competition in which you play.

As part of your development, referees are expected to attend monthly seminars and training sessions designed to support learning, confidence, fitness, decision-making, and progression within refereeing.

Whether you want to referee for fun, earn extra income, stay involved in football, or pursue a long-term career in the game, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

From building a brand new U16 team at Europa, facing challenge after challenge at the start of the season, and relying on feeder players along the way… to today having 8 feeders in the final and coming away with the win. What a journey 💚

So proud of every single player and especially grateful for the commitment shown by the U14s — without them, this team simply wouldn’t have happened.

We may have won the Rock Plate Cup, and a cup is still a cup 🏆, but this season has always been about youth development above all else. Looking back now, I truly believe this group achieved exactly that and more.
