BRUFUT UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
Brufut united football Club was founded in early 70s by some indigenous Brufut football players. It has undergone several transformations since then. Norga International Holding Company LTD and the Brufut community now own it. A management committee elected by the football stakeholders from the community of Brufut and Norga International Holding Company LTD manages it.
Since its formation in early 70s, Brufut united has competed in many national tournaments and has produced good players some of whom have even been contracted by top teams in the Gambia. Recently, the team had few players that were selected to represent Gambia at both junior and senior levels. Structure:
Brufut united comprises of three categories of football players namely:
a. 12-14 years juniors
b. 14-17 years intermediate
c. 17-25 years seniors
The team has a female team comprising:
14-17 years Intermediate
17-20 years seniors
The total number of players of all categories is about 240 players. The categories, both male and female that compete in the second tier of Gambian football are the seniors since the Gambia does not organize domestic junior tournaments. Brufut United Football club gets players from both local football clubs that number 25 and the two football academies situated in the town. Management: A team is elected by the community every four years to manage the team. The structure of the management comprises of

The team created a fans association and helped them to become semi-autonomous by encouraging them to form their own structure and to look for their own funds to help support the team when they are playing. There is also an ex-footballer advisory committee that is tasked to advise and support the football team but do not enjoy rights to make decisions. The national competitions that Brufut united participates in are the second division and grassroots national championship called Super Nawettan in the Gambia. In the former, Brufut united looks for qualification to the second division and in the latter the Grassroots football champion of the Gambia. Infrastructure
Brufut united football club’s football mini-stadium is under construction. It uses the sandy football field that belongs to a Primary school in the community.
