#Update#Universal FA Make History# More Drama Unfolding In The GFAA U-17 National Youth League. . Breaking news!!!!! Universal FA Are Champions!!!! Mayas FA has defeated KGH Sports on Thursday to the delight of everyone associated to Universal FA as they ultimately became the new champions of the U17 Youth League. And now the pressure is piling up on 2024 league champions KGH Sports to preserve the second position spot as they lead teams behind them by only 3 points with a game left to play. They must win to avoid another setback of losing out on the runners up spot which they won back in 2025 finishing behind Excellence FA, now former champions. This means the race for 2026 U-17 Youth League title will not go down to the wire- final game with 5 points separating the two rivals at the top with only one game left to play. 11 goals to shut out actions in week 12. GIFTS, Lion Stars and Mayas FA all won while Lahaiba and KWT were awarded the points after their opponents Sporting and AC Stars FA failed to appear on the pitch. The rest including Universal, E-Sohna, Unique Global, Banjul Bee's, Mayas, Excellence, GM FA, KGH Sports, Athletic City Stars and Sporting Banjul FA all dropped or forfeited points in week 12. KGH Sports FA were just 7 minutes away from a very crucial victory but E-Sohna, the surprise package of the season, quelled those dreams with an 83rd minute pinpoint penalty converted by Abdoulie Mansally to restore parity 13 minutes after KGH Sports took the lead through Modou Lamin Fadera in the 70th minute.

Literally the 1-1 draw has turned the tide against KGH Sports in their pursuit for the title they last won in 2024 and as a result KGH-who now drew for the 3rd consecutive game in a row -will fall 5 points behind leaders by Sunday, if Universal FA beats Banjul Bee's FA.

KM Academies in the National Youth League Shine Bright in Week 8.

In a rare but expected phenomenon, all three of 4 KM teams in the Youth League won harmonisingly as Lahaiba FA dismantled the Bee's of Banjul by 5-1, powerful victory.

Excellence and Mayas FA both came away with all three points.

However GM FA became the only KM team to lose in Week 8 and spoilt what would have a brilliant show of force by KM Academies over opposing regions.

His outstanding contributions helped Excellence FA lift the 2025 National U17 Youth League in which he won the golden boot.

At Regional level he was named the Player of the Year and Top Scorer of The Year.

Academies In 2026 National U17 Youth League #

The first round of the 2026 National U17 Youth League has ended in mixed shape for KM Academies.

Mayas FA, 4th on the table are the best representatives of the region after 7 round of matches in which they collected 14 out of a possible 21 points and are just 2 points away from the League leaders KGH Sports but have played a game more

Coach Ousman Faye and company have been really strong after going 5 matches unbeaten eventhough they lost that grit in week 6 but they fought hard to win their last game in week 7.

Interestingly and somehow dissapointing, reigning National Champions Excellence are down in 5th place followed by Lahaiba FA and GM FA on 6th and 7th place.

It is safe to say grassroots football is still upping in KM Region as far as the table is concern, with all KM teams in the top half of the table at the half stage of the season.
