The successful nature of the 2025 Afriskaut/GFAA U17 National Youth League on top of capping it off with a colourful coronation ceremony is a moment that will certainly go down into history books of Gambian football.
At GFAA we bring you the latest football ventures, with bold initiatives impacting football development of the country.
Since its launch in 2024 the National U17 Youth League has created inspiring breakthroughs, cognizant of the fact we have to find a way to promote local talents.
After landing yet another monumental league season and coronation ceremony, it's now back to business.
We say THANK YOU to every stakeholder who believed in us, who worked with us, supported us and stood with us despite sometimes frantic and disgusting moments from detractors.
Eventually we will all look back and feel inspired by the spectacular story we just wrote together, leaving both doubters and well-wishers stunned.
Hearty congratulations to Champions Excellence FA, Awardee's and all 12 teams who participated last year, you are all part of the history we built together.
See you in few weeks time with new initiatives including an expanded league geared towards elevating Youth football.

BUBA TRAWALLY, SCORER OF TWO HAT-TRICKS DURING THE NATIONAL U17 YOUTH LEAGUE 2025.
HE WAS AWARDED 2 BRAND NEW BALLS,FOR HIS INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCES.HE NETTED 11 GOALS DURING LAST SEASON CAMPAIGN.
Buba Trawally is purely a monster, he showed moments of brilliance and flashes of a potent striker who guided his side to a back to back 3rd place finish during the U17 youth league last season.
He was outstanding scoring 11 in total and the only player to score not one but two hat-tricks, one against Universal FA and the other against Afia Banjul.

CLASSIC HAMIDOU FAYE, KGH SFA PROLIFIC STRIKER.
HE WAS AWARDED A BALL FOR NETTING A HAT-TRICK DURING THE 2025 U-17 YOUTH LEAGUE.
Hamidou was unstoppable to defenders with his dazzling skills, composure infront of goal made him a phenomenon as he netted 9 goals also helping his side clinch the 2nd position in the 2025 national youth league.
His only hat-trick came against Universal FA, one of the most competitive teams last year.

BEST PLAYER AWARD WINNER, HIS ENERGETIC RUNS FROM THE FULLBACK TO CREATING AND SCORING GOALS.
HE SCORED 3 GOALS AND PROVIDED 7 ASSIST.

MEET SURAHATA CAMARA (MAYAS FA)
KING OF CLEAN SHEETS, HE WON THE GOLDEN GLOVE AWARD.
Surahata Camara is one of the Boldest young goalkeepers in the country and everyday he is working to even become better.
He amassed 6 clean sheets in 11 matches conceding only 7 goals which makes him the most steady and rocky goalkeeper in the 2025 U17 National Youth League.
HIS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES BETWEEN THE STICKS EARNED HIM THE BEST GOALKEEPER AWARD.

THE GOAL MACHINE PLAYED 11 MATCHES,
SCORED 13 GOALS, 3 ASSIST- 17 G/A.
In a league starving for goals, all you need is a SULAYMAN KANDEH.
Fondly called "Isak" this boy has played a profound role in his team road to victory.
From dismantling defenders to frightening goalkeepers and even earning a call up to the U17 National team, he has done it all in just one season.
The talented young forward reached an unbelievable combined tally of 17 goals contribution in just 11 matches(13 goals + 3 assist).
His only hat-trick came in his teams 7-0 capitulation of capital-city based Afia Banjul FA, in which he banged 4 goals..

Two top executive members of the Gambia Football Academies Association in Chairman Yahya Manneh and Secretary General Nuha F. Korta participated in the maiden presentation of the FIFA Amateur Football Country Report formally presented by the country's football governing body GFF at the Metzy Hotel in Kololi on Wednesday 13th January 2026.
The presentation started with two days internal presentation within the GFF staff and presided by the President of The Gambia Football Federation, GFF Lamin Kabba Bajo who also made history by becoming the first Gambian to assume the high profile FIFA Amateur and Grassroot Football Committee Chairmanship role.
The Chairman, Yahya Manneh and Secretary General, Nuha F. Korta of Gambia Football Academies Association graced the event on the invitation of the Gambia Football Federation to attend the Presentation of The Gambia Football Federations Amateur & Grassroots report.
The very invitation to the GFAA was extended through the Grassroots department
The presentation has been facilitated by consultants from FIFA in the person's of Mr. ALI Mwebe from Uganda and Mr. Serane Letsoaka from South Africa.
This convergence, which brought various stakeholders in the football pyramid, is a bold step towards accelerating the development of grassroots football in the country.
