A youth leader in Gerehu has publicly criticized a proposed relocation plan, describing it as a major setback to ongoing grassroots efforts aimed at restoring safety and stability in the suburb.

Gilford Sihinue, the leader of Gerehu for Gerehu (G4G), a self-funded community watch initiative in Gerehu said he was “demoralized and disgusted” after learning about the plan, which would reportedly relocate individuals who had previously been removed from other parts of the city due to behavioral and management issues.

“Some of us have put so much effort, time, and the little resources we have into ensuring Gerehu is safe and free from all the problems happening in the city today,” Mr. Sihinue said

Sihinue said that G4G and community members have sacrificed personal time, family commitments, and professional development to support initiatives designed to improve law and order in Gerehu. He added that these efforts were undertaken without financial backing or logistical support from relevant authorities.

“We did it purely with our own resources and to learn that the government authority that is supposed to be supporting us is now adding more problems to complicate the effort underway.

Gerehu has recently experienced improvements in community safety and social order. However, the proposed relocation of the evicted settlers from 2 mile and 4 mile with disciplinary issues in Gerehu is a grave concern for us.

“We already have a struggling police force in Gerehu and a self-funded and self-sustained community watch program that is effectively addressing these social issues,” he said. “These people will bring another load of weight to add on to the existing problems we are currently trying to manage,” he said.

Sihinue said that without proper funding and government support, volunteer programs such as G4G may not survive the added pressures.

“If these programs die out, Gerehu will go back to its former state, and outsiders will rule and ply their trade at whim in order.

Outside the field they are brothers bound by blood, friendship, and one community, but when the whistle blows they become enemies for 80 brutal minutes, as G-HOOD VIKINGS clash with GEREHU 3 BULLS in the Rigo Rice Leg 1 Grand Final, where brother plays brother, emotions rise, things turn rough, and pride is tested on one battlefield.
