We cordially announce the inaugural Golf Greece Junior Open, a nationwide junior golf tournament taking place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Glyfada Golf Course of Athens. The event is open to junior athletes under 18 years of age who hold a valid athletes health card and are members of a golf club or golf academy in Greece.

The tournament will feature four competition formats, designed to support all stages of junior golf development:

⛳️ Competition Zone: 18-hole competition (Gross & Net)
⛳️ Development Zone: 9-hole competition (Stableford, Tees)
⛳️ Progress Zone: 6-hole competition (Stableford, Forward Markers)
⛳️ Future Zone: 3-hole introductory competition

Tee times will begin in the afternoon, followed by a dinner and awards ceremony at Colonial, celebrating the young athletes and including special gifts and surprises for participants. The event is organized by Golf Greece and sanctioned by Glyfada Golf Club of Athens with support from esteemed contributors, golf professionals and athletes committed to advancing junior golf in Greece. In addition to tournament play, the event experience will include tournament coverage and family friendly activities throughout the day.

Participation is free and entries must be submitted through golf clubs or academies until June 21st and include player’s name, competition category and an athlete’s health card valid as of 05.07.2026.

On December 7th, 2006, Jack Nicklaus sat in the bed of a Mitsubishi pickup truck in Kilada, surveying the landscape that mirrored the fluorescent blueprints spread out on the truck’s hood: his first Signature Golf Course in Greece.

In the summer of 2026, he might as well be cutting the ribbon in the course inauguration. What took 20 years?

The TV broadcast of the 152nd Open transmitted rainy and windswept conditions from Royal Troon. But in Athens, temperatures were persistently exceeding 38 degrees. It was during the afternoon when a cooling breeze came to rescue and made conditions delightful. Golf Greece couldn’t think of a better way to spend that evening, than to project the Duels back to back on a LED wall in the clubhouse garden of Glyfada Golf Course, with the precious company of friends and fellow golfers who hadn’t yet left for summer vacations.

When the footage (kindly provided by R&A Films and North Ridge Films) started rolling, great debates emerged: The Duel In The Sun or The Duel of the ‘Sons? Turnberry or Troon? Mustard sweaters, hard-collared shirts, checkered pants and woods made of actual wood or post-2000 stripe shows and all-black outfits? Equally important: pizza with cocktails during the first battle and burgers with beer during the second, or inversely?

Two golfing battles you can never put your finger on, on a night that rolled as smooth as thin plumes from ci**rs over some tables dispersed in the night air. A memory to keep handy for cold winter pillows.
