Swashbuckler - School of Historical Swordsmanship

Amazing weekend at Thessaloniki thanks to our friends in Ξιφασκία Θεσσαλονίκη - Ξιφομαχος - Fencer FC who organized their first FHC 26 tournament.

Simply put it went smoothly, the judging was good, the location was great and easy to access, hosts were wonderful!

All in all everything that a fencer would want in an intrenational event, and I am very happy for what this event does for the image of Greek HEMA community!

That's why we wish them continued success and hope that we get to come back again next year and meet in even bigger numbers and have many more excellent fights!

As for our school we are happy to announce that our instructor Nikola Lee Sekulic won first place and brough back home gold with him in the rapier category! 🥇

The 1st rated Historical Fencing tournament of HEMA Rankings Hellas for fencers residing in Greece is officially behind us.

In total we had:

- 4 weapons categories (Longsword, Rapier, Sword and Buckler and Saber)

- 6 different clubs from 3 different cities

I am immensely happy to have been part of this and I very much look forward to future collaborations.

Participants were amazing and sportmanslike which made judging much easier and helped the flow of the tourney. I wish every tournament had this level of fair play.

As for team Swashbuckler performance I am very happy to announce that:

- Nikolas Robo won Bronze 🥉 in the Longsword category, congratulations! You have shown amazing progress and growth!

And because not everything is about medals, but also about being able to challenge yourself and push your comfort zone and try something new:

- Tremountanis for his performance in rapier category and managing to get out of the eliminations!

Again a big thank you to everyone for making this happen!

Thank you all for coming! It was great to see you all again! Thank you for the sportsmanship, fair play and good spirits that you brought to the tournament!

Ακαδημία Οπλομαχίας εκφράζει τις θερμότερες ευχαριστίες του σε όλες και όλους όσους συνέβαλαν στην επιτυχία του 1ου Βαθμολογούμενου Τουρνουά Ιστορικής Ξιφασκίας, στα πλαίσια του Προγράμματος HEMA Rankings Hellas, το οποίο έλαβε χώρα 7 και 8 Μαρτίου 2026, στην αίθουσα του ΑΣΑΟ επί της Βριλησσού 30, Πολύγωνο, Αθήνα.

Πρωτίστως τις συνδιοργανώτριες ομάδες Ιστορικής Ξιφασκίας Arkalus και Swashbuckler - School of Historical Swordsmanship. Η συνεργασία μας αποδεικνύει ότι ο αμοιβαίος σεβασμός, η ανιδιοτέλεια και τα φίλια συναισθήματα αποτελούν τα πιο ισχυρά θεμέλια για την προαγωγή του αθλητικού πνεύματος και του ευ αγωνίζεσθαι στην κοινότητα των Ιστορικών Ευρωπαϊκών Πολεμικών Τεχνών στην χώρα μας.

Ένα τεράστιο ευχαριστώ στους αθλητές και τις αθλήτριες όλων των ομάδων που συμμετείχαν για το υψηλό αγωνιστικό τους ήθος. Η συμμετοχή και η εμπιστοσύνη σας στις αθλητικές μας δραστηριότητες υπήρξε καθοριστική για την άρτια διεξαγωγή των αγώνων.

Τα θερμότερα συγχαρητήρια στις αθλήτριες και τους αθλητές του συλλόγου μας για την ομαδικότητα, την αφοσίωση στο σωματείο μας και το αλληλέγγυο πνεύμα προς τις υπόλοιπες ομάδες. Η Ακαδημία Οπλομαχίας είναι ιστορία που γράφεται και εσείς είστε η πένα της.

Ένα μεγάλο μπράβο στους αθλητές του ΑΣΑΟ που κατέκτησαν μετάλλια:
Γιάννης Κληρονόμος, 1η Θέση, Χρυσό μετάλλιο στο Longsword.
Θανάσης Διαμάντης, 2η Θέση, Αργυρό μετάλλιο στο Longsword.
Περικλής Θεοδωρόπουλος, 3η Θέση, Χάλκινο μετάλλιο στο Rapier.
Είστε πάντοτε πρότυπα και πηγές έμπνευσης για τους νεότερους αθλητές και τις αθλήτριές μας.

Από καρδιάς ευχαριστούμε όλους τους φίλους και τις φίλες που παραβρέθηκαν στην αίθουσά μας κατά τη διάρκεια των αγώνων, ως θεατές και υποστηρικτές της πολυετούς προσπάθειάς μας να διαδώσουμε την τέχνη του ξίφους στο Ελληνικό κοινό. Είστε η αγκαλιά που μας δίνει το πάθος να συνεχίζουμε μαζί, πιο δυνατοί.

Κλείνοντας, θα θέλαμε να εκφράσουμε με ιδιαίτερη τιμή τις πιο θερμές μας ευχαριστίες στον Γενικό Γραμματέα της Ελληνικής Ομοσπονδίας Ξιφασκίας κ. Αθανάσιο Σαφαρή για την επίσκεψη και την παρουσία του κατά την διάρκεια των αγωνισμάτων του Σαββάτου.

Ανανεώνουμε το ραντεβού μας με όλες και όλους για την επόμενη διοργάνωση, με αγάπη για την Ιστορική Ξιφασκία, τον αθλητισμό και τη συλλογικότητα.

Hello everyone ⚔️

As you know I'm not the type of person to stay still for long so it's my immense pleasure to reveal that Swashbuckler will be coming together with Arkalus and Ακαδημία Οπλομαχίας / Academy of Hoplomachia to work together on a joint project called:

HEMA Rankings Hellas https://hemarankingshellas.gr/

The goal of the project will be to focus on the growth and well-being of the local Greek community focusing on both already existing members as well as future newcomers.

The first item on the agenda is establishing a local ranking system that will help individuals evaluate their skill level by offering consistent friendly and safe competitive environment to test themselves out as well as prepare them for bigger international competitions.

There is another goal to it and that is for the community to come together and also share their knowledge and skills they have learned among themselves as well as helping us focus on organizing quality events through constant practice of running the events, judging, trying different things out and listening to the community feedback and working on improving ourselves so that we may continue to make these events bigger and better in the future.

We hope to share this future with all of you and that you will join us together on this journey!

Hello everyone! ⚔️

I am extremely excited to officially open up my own HEMA school "Swashbuckler".

This has been a dream of mine for years and now it's finally here.

A place where a passion for history, swords, dreams and reality come to meet together to create an experience like no other.

We welcome everyone, no matter what your goal is, be it competition, recreational activitity, general fitness or just because you want to swish a sword around because they are cool!

I hope that you will join me along this journey so that we may share in this adventure together!
