West Coast Warriors beat QCC Monarchy by 75 runs
---------------------------
Rampant West Coast Warriors surged to a commanding, 75-run win over QCC Monarchy in another fixture of this year’s Commonwealth Cricket League 30-over competition on Sunday at Brentwood ground, Long Island, New York.
Warriors have now got six victories from seven games and remained at the top of the points’ standing.
After winning the toss and opted to take first strike, Warriors rallied along to a competitive 205 all out in the penultimate over.
QCC Monarchy replied with 130 all out off 19.2 overs.
Pacer and US-based Guyanese Javed Shafeek was the chief destroyer for Warriors nabbing 4-23 from 4.2 overs while Essequibian and leggy Brandon Cabose supported him by claiming 2-39 off his maximum 6-overs.
Having placed in a precarious position at 39-3, QCC Monarchy struggled for momentum despite a stubborn 31 from skipper Hamza Ali while Patel Keval and Atul Poddar scored 27 and 25 respectively to also put up a fight.
Earlier, Warriors had a rousing start from the inform Youghestir Bachan and Rajendra Khan posting up 82 in 9.1 overs.
Khan was adjudged leg-before for 43, an innings comprised of two sixes and five fours from 28 balls.
Bachan, who already registered a century this season, also batted with equal flamboyance hitting 59. The left-handed Bachan occupied the crease for 64 deliveries hammering 8 fours and two sixes as well.
After their separation, Warriors lost skipper and former Guyana youth player Kevin Christian for 01.
Christian has been in superb form though after clobbering an enterprising 99 the previous day playing for Kingsmen XI in the New York National Cricket League Saturday Premiere Division.
Frontline batter Chandrapaul Persaud went back for 00 before Avi Dhanpaul revived things with a typically aggressive 46 (4x4, 4x6).
There were two wickets each for Anmolpreet Singh, Gurbakshjot Sidhu, Keval and Issa Muhammad.
Meanwhile, the 12-team competition will continue on Sunday. West Coast Warriors will come up against Gotham Cricket Club.
The competition climaxes in August .

CWI President Welcomes Inclusive Approach at 22nd PMSC on Cricket
President Irfaan Ali Chairs Wide-Ranging Discussion ⁹on West Indies Cricket Development, Infrastructure and Player Welfare
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), the Honourable Dr. Kishore Shallow, has expressed sincere gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, for the inclusive and consultative approach adopted in chairing the Twenty-Second Meeting of the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee (PMSC) on Cricket, held via videoconference on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
The meeting, convened under the auspices of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), brought together a broad cross-section of stakeholders from government, cricket administration, the business community and the playing fraternity – a composition CWI described as reflective of a timely and welcomed engagement on the future of the regional game.
Notably, Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda joined the discussions, lending the weight of regional leadership to the session. Participants also included government ministers, members of the CWI Board led by President Dr. Shallow and Vice President Azim Bassarath, and CWI executive management, including Chief Executive Officer Chris Dehring. The cricket fraternity was represented by figures including Sir Clive Lloyd, Courtney Walsh and Ramnaresh Sarwan, while West Indies women’s captain Hayley Matthews joined to offer a player’s perspective. Representation from the business community was also present on the call.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Shallow commended President Ali for the manner in which the session was conducted.
“On behalf of Cricket West Indies, I want to thank President Ali for the inclusive approach he has adopted as Chair of this Sub-Committee. Bringing together government, the cricket community and the business sector around the same table speaks to a genuine recognition that the development of our game requires the input of all stakeholders. This kind of engagement is both timely and welcomed, and we are encouraged by the spirit in which it was conducted,” Dr. Shallow said.
He added that the involvement of past and present players ensured that the voices of those who have represented the region on the field were reflected in the discussions, alongside the perspectives of government, business and CWI’s own executive leadership.
In addition to matters arising from the meeting’s agenda, including updates on developments in West Indies cricket, discussions also focused on the state and development of cricket infrastructure across the Caribbean. In this regard, the Sub-Committee considered the proposed establishment of a joint CARICOM–Cricket West Indies Infrastructure Development and Utilisation Sub-Committee, which would provide strategic oversight and recommendations on the planning, maintenance and development of cricket and multi-purpose sporting facilities throughout the region. The terms of reference for this body remain subject to finalisation, though it is anticipated that the Sub-Committee will be formally established in short order.
The meeting also agreed on the intention to convene a Regional Cricket Business Forum aimed at increasing the involvement of the Caribbean business community in cricket. The forum is expected to explore opportunities for greater investment, partnership and collaboration in support of the continued growth and development of the regional game.
Cricket West Indies looks forward to continued collaboration with CARICOM, regional governments and all stakeholders as these initiatives advance, and reaffirms its commitment to working alongside the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket in the months ahead.

LOCAL PLAYERS CONFIRMED FOR WCPL FOLLOWING DRAFT

Barbados Tridents – Hayley Matthews
Jamaica Empress – Chinelle Henry
Guyana Amazon Warriors – Shemaine Campbelle
Trinbago Knight Riders – Karishma Ramharack
Following the allocation of these Heritage players, the three existing franchises were permitted to protect two additional players from their 2025 squads. Once that process was completed, the Jamaica Empress selected two players from the remaining draft pool.

Barbados Tridents – Qiana Joseph, Afy Fletcher
Jamaica Empress – Stafanie Taylor, Aaliyah Alleyne

Kevin Christian slams 104 for West Coast Warriors; hits 6 sixes in one over
--------------------------------
Former Guyana youth player Kevin Christian slammed a ferocious, 104 to pilot West Coast Warriors to a comfortable, 4-wicket win against Punjab Pura on Sunday at Flushing ground where action continued in the 2026 Commonwealth Cricket League 30-over tournament in New York.
The 25-year-old right-handed batsman also created history clobbering 6 sixes in one over. He struck a total of ten sixes and complemented his landmark innings with six fours during his 44-ball display.
Christian clubbed off spinner Chandan Mohapatra in the 12th over to become the first player to do it for his club.
West Coast Warriors, in pursuit of 232 for victory from the reduced 25-overs, safely reached the target with 18 balls to spare. The reduction of the overs was due to the late arrival of Pujab Pura.
Christian arrived at number 3 after Warriors lost Youghestir Bachan for 25. Soon after Anthony Providence departed for 10 but Christian and Chandrapaul Persaud featured in a match-defining, 137-run, third-wicket stand.
Persaud contributed 23 while Avi Dhanpaul kept the batting impetus with a fluent 48 (8x4).
Seamer Kulwinder Shanty Singh took 2-49 from his maximum five overs.
Earlier, Punjab Pura won the toss and elected to bat first. Singh led the way with an aggressive, 34-ball 80 which contained eight sixes and three fours.
Roma Garcha and Lavi Singh were also in the runs-column for Punjab Pura with 40 and 27 respectively.
Seamer Bachan proved his all-round capability by claiming 3-34 in his 5-over outing while Javed Shafeek, with similar action, accounted for two victims conceding 45 runs off four overs.
Meanwhile, the win keeps West Coast Warriors at the top of the points table having now registered four victories from as many matches.
The round- robin tournament will continue later this month. It is scheduled to run until September.

Krishna Arjune bats for Guyana Amazon Warriors at ExxonMobil GSLT20
--------------------------------
Former Guyana opening batsman Krishna Arjune is throwing his supporting behind the Guyana Amazon Warriors to retain the ExxonMobil Global Super League (GSL) T20 trophy.
The five-team tournament is slated to bowl off July 23rd at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence with Pakistanis Lahore Qalandars taking on Australian Perth Scorchers while the hosts will open their campaign against San Francisco Unicorns at the same day but under lights.
The Canada-based Guyanese Arjune stated that Warriors have possessed some quality T20 players and that has given him the confidence they can be the triumphant unit again.
Warriors dethroned Rangpur Riders from Bangladesh last year. Riders captured the inaugural title in 2024.
“I really like the team; it looks balanced and they have got some great all-rounders as well; once they play to their true potential I believe they can win the tournament once more,” Arjune mentioned.
Hailing from Unity Village on the East Coast Demerara, Arjune represented Guyana in 40 first-class matches and 12 limited-over games.
He is also optimistic that home-advantage will do well for the host-nation.
“I think the Warriors will do good at Providence; most of the players are familiar with conditions and the pitch and with crowd support, I think they are favourite to emerge as champions,” the right-handed batter Arjune commented.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have yet to name a Captain for the tournament which will conclude August 1st with the grand finale.
However star-batter Shimron Hetmyer is among the seasoned campaigners including: Romario Shepherd, Rovman Powell, Glenn Phillips, Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson and dynamic all-rounder Keemo Paul.
The other players in the team are: Amir Jangoo, Muhammad Haris, Mohammed Nabi, Dwaine Pretorius, Imran Tahir and Gudakesh Motie.
“When I looked at the team list I saw a lot of players with International experience and that should boost this team’s confidence immensely; I know every side [is] coming out to play competitive cricket and winning the tournament but Guyana Amazon Warriors will bring out their best on this occasion again,” the 45-year-old Arjune related.
Quizzed on the team should play from start, Arjune responded: “Well, T20 cricket is about being astute and innovative and Warriors to play aggressive cricket; the team is comprised of several pugnacious batters and smart bowlers and that is important but just go out there and execute your plans.”
The other participating team is Desert Vipers, a team coming from United Arab Emirates.

-CCL 30-over….
Javed Shafeek (6-42) spurs West Coast Warriors to victory over Whim Boyz
---------------------------
Right-arm seamer Javed Shafeek snared 6-42 to help West Coast Warriors thrash Whim Boyz by a comprehensive, 78-run margin in the continuation of the 2026 Commonwealth Cricket League (CCL) 30-over tournament in New York last Sunday.
On a pitch that offered appreciated bounce at Seaview Front ground, Shafeek delivered his maximum six overs as Whim Boyz were skittled for 146 in the 18th over.
The USA-based Guyanese got excellent support from another medium-pacer bowler Kenly Adams who captured 2-21 in 4.1 overs.
Whim Boys had a disastrous start in pursuit of 225 target set by West Coast Warriors. They were reeling at 27-6 at one stage with
Shafeek, who played for Parika Salem Sports Club in Guyana, triggered the early collapse. But a late-order resistance from Hemraj Seepersaud and Ajaikumar Thakoordeen with 38 each only prolonged the inevitability.
Earlier, West Coast Warriors won the toss and opted to take first knock. They justified the decision after Anthony Providence and the inform Youghestir Bachan laid a solid foundation with a 76-run partnership in just 9 overs.
Bachan eventually top-scored with 51 while Providence was unfortunately run out after a terrible mixed-up with his opening partner. He contributed 36, though.
Warriors still kept the momentum going as Chandrapaul Persaud also chalking up an impressive half-century striking a 38-ball 50 which contained three sixes and four fours.
Before Bachan was adjudged leg-before to off-spinner Yaadram Jagasshwar, he already caressed eight boundaries during his 54-ball occupation at the crease.
Former Essequibo youth player Brandon Cabose also was among the runs with 26. Rajendra Latcha grabbed 3-33 from four overs to be most successful bowler for Whim Boyz and Joel Pharous supporting him with two scalps having conceded 48 runs in six expensive overs.
The win cements West Coast Warriors at the top of the table with 11 points recording 5 wins from 6 games while the Whim Boyz remain in trouble with only four points after four defeats from six outings.
Meanwhile, the 12-team tournament is scheduled to resume this coming Sunday. Warriors will clash with QCC Monarchy while Whim Boyz set to confront SinghBoys.
