๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Today is World Cancer Day! ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Cancer occurs when abnormal cells grow uncontrollably and spread in the body. While there is no single cause, certain risk factors increase the chances of developing cancer.

At GRPA, we are committed to raising awareness and promoting early detection, prevention, and support services for those affected by cancer.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it remains a significant concern in Guyana. The majority of cases are linked to HPV, a common virus transmitted through sexual contact.

Hereโ€™s how we can take action to protect ourselves:
1. HPV Vaccination: Available in Guyana, particularly for young girls and boys.

2. Regular Screenings: Pap smears and HPV tests can detect early changes before they develop into cancer.

3. Recognize the Symptoms: Watch for signs like abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, or unusual discharge.

Together, we can break the stigma, raise awareness, and work towards eliminating cervical cancer in Guyana.

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

At the Youth Advocacy Movement, we stand with survivors, champion systemic change, and empower women to live without fear or harm. Through education, counseling, and health services, we are dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence and fostering a world where equality and safety are fundamental rights, not privileges.

Join us in taking action to end violence against women and create a brighter, safer future for all.
