🎁MY SECRET GIFT ON VALENTINES DAY! 🎁

Happy Valentines from me and mine!

Valentines is a day for celebrations, but not in the way you may think…

In 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ we think of it in terms of buying cards, and beautiful flowers, having a romantic meal with a loved one etc…

Half of the population is single, yep that’s right it's a statistic that keeps on growing so perhaps we should consider growing with it… Opening up our minds to a new definition of love, a new way to celebrate Valentines.

Imagine if every adult in the world did one of 3 things…

1️⃣ Spent the day showing love to themselves (no not ma********ng!!) although that too can be very pleasant! However for the purposes of this post I am talking about self-care!
❓When was the last time you did anything loving for yourself❓

2️⃣Carry out just one random act of kindness, just one! It may just make someone's day!

3️⃣ Made a point of reaching out to 5 of your friends or relatives and say "Hi." Check in on how they were doing, even wishing them a happy valentines…grow those friendships.

All of these 3️⃣ things cost nothing, but are valued 'priceless' buy anyone's standards!

Happiness = Finding a sense of meaning beyond yourself and comes from growing or giving.

Drop a comment 👇🏼 & tag a single friend on this post...let them know you are thinking of them ❤️

My gift to you is love, more love and kindness in the world...imagine what that could bring... 😍😘😍

Imagine if you gave the same level of love, respect compassion and encouragement that you show to others to yourself...

You'd be unstoppable right?

If you struggle with self-doubt
If you're tired of that nagging critic in your head
If you're wildly successful but all you focus on is what's going wrong OR
If you're sick of watching everybody else get ahead while you sit on the couch with your dog

Then this habit is for you!!

Using science-backed wisdom this powerful habit is the starting point to increasing your self-belief so that you operate with the confidence that your goals and dreams demand.

The High 5 Habit is more than a simple, proven tool. It is a holistic approach to life that changes your attitude, your mindset, and your behavior. So be prepared to laugh, learn, and launch yourself into a more confident, happy, and fulfilling life by joining me and millions in the world each morning with the what do you have to lose?

If you only read one thing this month, read this 👇🏼 and at the end ask yourself honestly... What would you have done?

“ In Washington DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, a man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

After about four minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule.

About four minutes later, the violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

At six minutes, a young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

At ten minutes, a three-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent - without exception - forced their children to move on quickly.

At forty-five minutes: The musician played continuously. Only six people stopped and listened for a short while. About twenty gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

After one hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed and no one applauded. There was no recognition at all.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

This experiment raised several questions:

In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

If so, do we stop to appreciate it?

Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made…

How many other things are we missing as we rush through life?”

C’est La Vie💃🏽

Another bed head picture, this time sporting a gigantic cup of delicious coffee, ta for the soup bowl cup rsk and ktroast for your delicious coffee beans.
So I'm 4wks post-surgery now…The struggles real.
I’m keeping myself accountable each and every day to work towards my goal of banishing knee pain once and for all. I’m doing pretty much everything I have been told to facilitate recovery…so all crossed for the next Xray!

Being given the giant cup this mug with C’est La Vie onit, it made me think about what is in and out of our control.

We know that some things happen in our lives that are simply out of our control. Whether it is an illness or injury, the loss of someone, the pandemic; no one can control it.

There are also things that happen that you are solely responsible for this can be positive things, like disciplined with my physio to heal, to offer the old lady on the bus a seat, perhaps pay forward a gesture of kindness to someone in need, or your response to any other situation you can think of; even be something that you have chosen to do in the past that you are ashamed of, and wish you could take back, but you can’t. If this happens all of that stress, pain, and resentment that results from doing something you regret can be a heavy burden. Even though you can’t change your past to make the present better, you can make a change to make a better future.

When you notice a “C’est la vie moment” first accept it for what it is. Accept that the moment and the result of the moment is outside of your control. Next, you must choose your response, what actions do you take, what words do you speak, what choices do you make. Every C’est la vie moment happens for a reason (even if that reason is never understood), so as opposed to stressing, worrying, and trying to change the outcome of the moment or trying to change the moment itself look inward and try to act in a way that shows consciousness and start to control yourself.

Align yourself to the moment. Implement conscious actions, and simply try to look at it as every C’est La Vie moment as an opportunity for personal growth, and opportunity to raise the level of your own awareness

My current post leg surgery look!

Sorry for the lack of posts, just wanted to let you know I can't walk without crutches yet but I'm alive. 😊

After years and years of training through the pain of a desecrated meniscus and 2 unsuccessful keyhole surgeries, I finally found a surgeon who could offer a new option, an Osteotomy. From the initial consultation to the surgery was only 8 days, which of course led to abit of panic, running around trying to organise things.

An Osteotomy is basically a fairly large open surgery in which my femur (thigh bone) had to be sorn into 2 to have a gap in the shape of a tiny door stop put into it. Following this a metal plate which had to be screwed into the bone to reinforce the bone to allow for healing!

Sorry to any squirmish people reading!!

Anyway, the surgery was successful and now I am back at home recovering. All hail the Hong Kong Public Health Service!!! I have to say I can’t fault the service I was provided (apart from the congee for breakfast that is!!)

The recovery is super long – anywhere from 6-12 months, with at least 3 Months on crutches (brilliant that I live at the top of a lot of steps on Lamma Island hey?)

As a Results Coach it got me thinking about the effects of injury on my own mental wellness, I mean after all I am pretty much stuck at home (in a step avoidance mission), with only my dogs, occasional Dog Walker and Cleaner to keep me company during the day awaiting the return of my lovely Rinske Kuiper in the evenings!

So, I’ve put together some tips that I’m personally practicing to aid / speed my recovery.

The first step in actively managing your recovery from injury / illness is understanding what to expect.
From the time of the injury / illness to the return of normality, it is common to experience a variety of feelings. From the initial shock and anxiety to the fear of reoccurrence.
You may go through periods of depression and grief for lost goals to outright denial of any problem. Your confused and unhappy feelings are a normal response to an abnormal situation (being ill or injured is not a "normal" situation for a motivated healthy person or athlete!). So, don’t try to hide or suppress your feelings. The sooner you let them out, the sooner you can leave them behind and get on with the important work of healing and recovery.

Here are 6 Life Hacks to aid recovery from illness or injury:

1. Maintain a positive outlook
Easy to say right? But seriously list in your mind all the positives, the wisdom of the experience, all the pluses of recovering well.

2. Goal Set
Yes, you want to get well, but also you need to plan to be well. The long-term goal is obvious, but what is helpful is realistic, daily short-term goals that will help you through the recovery period.
Keep records of the goals and your achievements, just like you would if you were trying to lose weight, or give up smoking etc. It is an easy to track progress, which in turn can help to keep up your morale and fighting spirit when things are tough.

3. Positive self-talk
You cannot change the fact that you have been injured or become ill, but you can control your thoughts about the situation and your recovery. Positively self-talking about your circumstances and recovery does not mean you are denying the hard times. It means you are actively choosing to overcome them. Negative, self-pitying or self-blaming thoughts cause distress which interferes with the healing process.

4. Visualization
Positive images of healing, and visualization of being fully recovered, have been proven to help speed up recovery from injury and illness.
While you are having treatment or doing any rehabilitation exercise, visualize the ill or injured part of your body gaining strength and recovering.
Visualization is used successfully by so many to aid in recovery, performance, personal development, don’t be the person who overlooks it!

5. Support
Talk to people that you know will give you support - your family, friends, teammates, the doctor or physiotherapist, therapist or coach.
Research has shown that injured or ill people who have very supportive family and friends have less distress and recover more quickly.

6. Getting back to normal
It is natural to have some worries when you first start back at work, or training after an injury / illness. To overcome this try preparing mentally for the return to your version of normal long before you take the first step.
From the start of your recovery, regularly visualize yourself, confidently and calmly getting ready for your normal, performing well and consistently, the manager or the PT praising your efforts.

Nobody needs to go through recovery and recouperation alone, if you want some help with implementing these life hacks into the recovery process drop me a message, give me a call or text. Results coaching helps people no matter where they are right now work towards where they want to be. 😊

Having the power to choose really is having the power to change!!

I woke up this morning and for no reason felt a little low, maybe it's that time in the month, maybe it was the unpleasant dream I had, maybe it was just my brain... Who knows🤷‍♀️ bottom line, I didn't want to play today, least of all head back into a gym for the first time in a while.

Our power to choose is really a massive gift, and by harnessing that power I got myself to the gym 🏋️‍♀️; and as a result I've gone on to have a productive day 💪🏽.

🧨 Woohoo!! Today I won 🧨

👉 but the power to choose can also be our biggest roadblock to living the lives we lives we love.

Although we have been given this huge gift, we don’t always give it the appreciation it deserves.
Sometimes, we actually have a chronic habit of making bad choices—choices that keep us separate from our greatness, our purpose and our happiness. Choices that render us unable to make real, lasting changes in our lives.

We become frozen, stuck and prohibited from creating our masterpieces.

It’s easy to get caught up in this trap, and it’s even easier to create excuses to justify why we can’t seem to change. Although on a rational level, we may think we really want to change, we really want that relationship, that job and that book deal—the reality is that change can be scary for most of us. 😱

When fear is in the mix, our default choice is often to play it safe and not change. We decide not to take chances so that we don’t get hurt, disappointed or rejected.

While this can be chalked up to the part of our 🧠 that is just trying to protect us, there are times when we need to get through a bit of discomfort in order to change and get to the next “level” in our lives.📈

Remember you have the power to change, you just have to make a choice to do it!

One persons rubbish is another persons art.... It's a matter of perspective.

👓🕶️What filters or lens are you choosing to view the universe, your small world and self? Are you wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses, corrective eyewear such as eyeglasses, contacts or bifocal lens?
🌲🌳 You mean you can’t see the forest for the trees?

This analogy tells us what you choose to look through will determine what you enlarge and minimize in your situation. If you look at things, circumstances and situations in your life one at a time, you might not realize they go together to create your personal journey and memoirs.

👣 Oftentimes, when we are too close and too connected to a situation, especially dealing with ourselves and our families, we need to step back and get a clearer perspective.

🦮We can’t see the real issue at hand because we are too close and too familiar with it, thus focusing on one specific problem or detail, and failing to see the overall view or situation and growth of the person.

🙈 I can’t tell you how often I’ve been guilty of not seeing the big picture.

👉 Perspective is powerful! If you don’t like the way something looks, simply change your point of view. When we examine our world, “we do not describe what we see, but we see what we describe.” We see life not as it is, but as we are. Life is purely a matter of perspective.

❓Are you in tuned with the rhythm of life and the vibrations of the Earth?

〰️According to the principle of vibration, nothing rests; everything moves, and everything vibrates. Everything is in motion.

Energy flows where your attention goes.

Who reading this has tried to change a part of their lifestyle? 🙋🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

How did you get on?

Truth is up to 90% of people fail at making longterm lifestyle changes... I mean anyone can convince themselves to go to yoga, to the gym or to pick up a book once or twice, but if you don’t shift the belief behind the behavior, then it becomes hard to stick with long-term changes.

❌ Improvements are only temporary.

✔️ The ultimate form of intrinsic motivation is when a habit becomes part of your identity.

👉🏼It’s one thing to say “I’m the type of person who wants this.”
👉🏼It’s something very different to say “I’m the type of person who is this.”

Your identity plays such an important role in your behavior, and your identity emerges from habits.
👇👇👇

The more you repeat a behavior, the more you reinforce the identity associated with that behavior. And the more you reinforce the identity, the more natural it will feel to repeat the behavior.

💥 Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.

💥Each habit is like a suggestion: “Hey, maybe this is who I am.” No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.

💥💥When your behavior and your identity are fully aligned, you are no longer pursuing behavior change. You are simply acting like the type of person you already believe yourself to be. 💥💥

🧠 So, if you are considering a lifestyle change think about your desired identity and ask, “Who is the type of person that could get the outcome I want?”

This question helps reveal the desired identity you should be working toward and the habits that support that identity. This is the way to determine which habit you should focus on.

Once you have a handle on the type of person you want to be, you can begin taking small steps to reinforce your desired identity.

Your habits reshape your identity in a gradual way. It's slow and nearly impossible to see, but don't give up, with each repetition your internal story begins to shift, you identity begins to sway.

So focus your awareness on "WHO" you want to be.

Happy humpday

The more you can live and work in an organized way (even if like me it doesn't come naturally at first) the sooner you'll change your habits for the better.

Here are 5 everyday strategies worth trying:

1️⃣. Celebrate each and every small win. For example, if you complete 3 things on your To-Do List, treat yourself to a cup of coffee, or allow yourself 10 minutes of free time to call a friend or go for a quick walk.

2️⃣. Use one calendar. If you record some things on your Google calendar, and others on your email outlook calendar, it's going to be hard to coordinate. Instead, start putting everything in one place.

3️⃣. Schedule small tasks, break down every big task into smaller tasks or systems.
If a task or project requires action beforehand (like picking up leaflets for that staff meeting), make sure that you schedule those into your day, too. Missing small jobs can have big knock-on effects on everything else.

4️⃣. Get organized at home too. Don't just restrict your organized approach to work – because a chaotic home life will bring its own problems!
Try to declutter where you live to make mornings easier. Plan your whole day carefully. And talk to the people you live with, so that they know how they can help you.

5️⃣. Value on your time. Whether you're prioritizing your work tasks for the week, or mapping out your social life, think about how to make every second count. In the words of the American inventor Thomas Edison, time is "… really the only capital any human being has, and the one thing he can't afford to waste."

💥 Happy organising! 💥

Harness your habits!

✔️Are there things in your life you have been wanting to change?

✔️Have the same things been popping up on your “New year resolutions” year after year.

✔️Are you unhappy with parts of your lifestyle, but you just can’t seem to change it?

💥Every behaviour we have as human beings is a habit.

💥Habits are responsible for almost every part of our day.

💥They impact our health, our wealth, our relationships, the way we feel about ourselves, not to mention how we spend our precious time.

💥Habits can be our best friend or our enemy, depending on if they move you towards your goals, or further away from them.

💥Good habits are just addictive as bad habits, but they are a lot more rewarding.

🧠Creating and breaking habits, starts and finishes in the brain!

✅ As neuroscience has progressed, we have learnt how to use the great power of our own brains to our benefit.

✅ With coaching tools and techniques developed from over 10,000 1 on 1 coaching hours I have put together Harness your habits, an 8 week coaching program to help people like you take back control of your habits and direct your life exactly how you truly want too.

Happiness is found only in the present mement, that’s where it lives, that’s its home.

I know it sounds cliché right? We hear it so often, and yet we rarely get told how to be more present in our everyday lives.

I mean, no one has time to sit and meditate for 8 hours a day like a monk do they?

To commit to being more present requires us being connecting with the now.

Here are some questions you can use to bring yourself back to appreciating the present:

💥Is my mind where my body is right now?
💥What can I feel in my body right now?
💥What is perfect about this situation right now?
💥What sensations can I feel in my body right now?
💥What is my breathing like right now? Is it shallow and fast? Is it slow and deep? Is it through my nose, or through my mouth? What is the temperature of the air?
💥What do I like to do when I am not thinking about the past/future but just enjoying what I am doing? Walking? Socialising? Reading? Cooking? 👉🏼Do more of that.

So often we are waiting for "one" big thing to happen for us to be happy. To meet the perfect partner. To be 10kgs lighter. Getting that kick-ass promotion. Buying the dream house. When we are focused on the acquisition of that one big thing, our attention is focused on the FUTURE. ON WHAT’S NEXT. Happiness becomes something to be deferred.
Equally when we dwell on the past, the sh*tty day at work, the meeting that did not go well, the break up, the chores that did not get done, our energy is projected backwards, into the PAST, and we cut ourselves off from experiencing joy in the now.

Now is where your body is. Now is the present!

To be more present, connect your mind with whatever your body is doing RIGHT NOW.

Suck the maximum joy from that moment, this moment, this moment right now.

The only time we can experience happiness is now.

That is why they call it “The Present” – because it’s a gift. 🎁✌️

Every time you try and fail, you are one step closer to SUCCESS! You just need to remind yourself to push through that walls built up in your mind.

Failure is not a bad thing, failure means that you, yes you are taking action and working hard!

It's better to try and fail than to have never tried at all.

Don't censor your dreams...go after what you want.
When you are truly at peace and in touch with yourself and your life goals, nothing anyone says or does bothers you, and no negativity can touch you.

🌏 In a world where we have been brought up to think in a certain way, we feel restrained not just by societies unspoken rules, but by fears of judgement, fears of failure, fears of critism.... Often we censor our dreams, our goals in a bid to avoid the judgement of others, but by doing so we live an unauthentic life...

❌ This leads to our body producing negative feedback; this could be snoring, teeth grinding, illnesses, anxieties, anger or aggression to name just a few.

✅ By tuning into yourself, truly and on a deep level and by pushing for goals and dreams that are authentic and not censored by your own limiting beliefs or fears, we move from a state of disalignment to a state of alignment.

➕ The negative feedback stops, you become at peace, you worry less, you have more motivation, you become more fulfilled every single day.

You become unfu💥kwithable

We all do it....
Diet "I'll start on Monday"
Stop smoking "I'll start on Monday"
Go to the gym "I'll start on Monday"
Meditation "I'll start on Monday"
Being more organised.. "I'll start on Monday"
Working towards a goal.. Yep you got it.... "I'll start on Monday"

❓Think back, how many times have you said this to yourself?

🙈How many of those actions you planned to start next Monday are still waiting behind the start line?

The more you plan a goal, and fail to take action is doing more damage than you know... You are teaching your brain to override the start process of the goal...

Hard truth : If you don't address this soon, and change your habits around setting goals YOU WILL ALWAYS STRUGGLE to ever meet your goals.

💥 GOOD NEWS... It's easily fixed, by going back to the fundamentals of setting good goals you can reverse the damage caused 💥

This is a huge part of how I help people, and the results are phenomenal! 😀

🙋 🙋🏼‍♀️ Reach out if you want more details on how some simple coaching tools can erase any need to "start again on Monday" by setting you up on a WINNING course of action, so that Monday becomes just another day in the week of everyday success!

5 Sunday Habits for a successful week ahead

1) Plan out your week ahead
Write down everything you want to achieve for the upcoming week. Plan other commitments like workouts and appointments. Prioritise your tasks, write your to-do list and review any upcoming deadlines. Thinking about the week ahead will help reduce some of the stress of Monday.

2) Move your body
We far too often allow our bodies to stagnate on the weekend, moving your body allows you to increase your circulation, stretch out the body, release built up toxins, increase oxygen to the brain which all helps with allowing your body and your brain to feel positive, to feel successful, to be balanced.

3) Engage in a self care activity
If like most people you spend your weeks running around its too easy to lost sight of the importance of self-care. Try and schedule into your day a "Power Hour" of self-care activities, it could be 20 mins at a time. Allow yourself to grow, to learn, to practice a skill, to gain insight. This gives you balance and allows your brain to feel productive and successful for the week ahead.

4) Avoid alcohol and eat healthy
make alcohol off-limits on a Sunday. I know it can be hard, but it will make waking up on Monday easier and less foggy. Eat a healthy dinner to avoid that heavy feeling. You’ll wake up feeling energised and ready to smash out your Monday morning gym session.

5) Go to bed early
Getting to bed earlier on a Sunday night can make a big difference in how you feel and how you approach your Monday morning. Start your bedtime routine early and try and switch off from screen time for at least an hour before bed. Try taking a hot bath to clear your mind or drinking herbal tea to unwind. The results of a good night’s sleep on a Sunday can last long into the week and you’ll start the week feeling your best.

Above all, have an epic Sunday!

Whatever it is you are trying to do, whatever goal you are trying to achieve, it's vital that you remember that no matter how many barriers you come up against you do not panic.

😱 Fear and uncertainty around any goal or life plan works against you on a cellular level.

❌ Fear and uncertainty stops the biological process of myelination of the axon connecting the neuron...
What that means in English is that if you are trying to create a new action or a new habit within your lifestyle you must stay relaxed about it.

🛣️If you imagine that a neuron is a destination on a map, and to get from your home (one neuron) to your destination (another neuron) you need to travel down a road (an axon) in a car (the action potential)... If you are in a rush then you want to get to the final destination the fastest....right?

🏎️Myelin is a substance of the brain that turns what was once a bumpy country road into a smooth tarmac super highway...

Which one do you think will get you to your destination the quickest-
The bumpy country road or the tarmac super highway?

Fear, panic, uncertainty stop myelin (or in the analogy above- tarmac) from being created, keeping your new action slow and hard to get down.
