What's your favorite running trainers brand? Asics, Mizuno both offered functions for speed, protection and they are the most chosen brands amongst runners with the designs as well.

My impression with Hoka are very heavy weighted with thick midsole. Why on early need to have 2 inch thickness on trainers? Until Hoka Tracer was discovered, the design and colour looks very eye catching and I was surprised with its lightness when I took it on hand. Then, of course I got a pair to try out and realized how much protection Tracer offered and how light they are. Since owning them, I have used them to train for standard chartered full marathon, they offer great protection and feel very bouncy on concrete roads. The Hoka Tracer particularly suitable for 14Km or above training and race. However, I would not recommend to use it for 10Km or below races as they are not pair of road gripping racing shoes like the Asics Tarther and Mizuno Emperor ranges. In addition, the grip is not as well on wet surfaces.

In summary, I Love these pair of Hoka Tracer and just have them finished the AXA street marathon 32.195km. The colour, design with its supports for the distance are worth for its value.

The trail shoes were tested in Hong Kong Shing Mun Reservoir and Oakley HK Island race which went through Violet Hill, The Twins etc. This pair of trainers did well on muddy road with its contagrip. They gave fast responses on both dry and wet trails. However, I would say they are a bit hard for normal on road running as the shoes bases are fairly hard with limited shock absorb ability.
