Q&A(4/4)
Am I too old to learn Kung Fu?
Never! No one is every too old to learn Traditional Kung Fu. Don’t get Wushu, Tai Chi and
Traditional Kung Fu mixed up - its a big misconception that Kung Fu is all about crazy
gymnastics, splits and acrobatics because of the big movie scenes in Hollywood films today.
That’s all Wushu which is an Olympic sport that is acrobatics, gymnastics mixed with Kung Fu
elements. Tai Chi is technically classified as Kung Fu but just an internal style and as an internal
style it is very suitable to adults. Frankly learning Traditional Tai Chi requires a certain decorum
that makes it more suitable for adults or at least young adults that are no longer required by law
to go to school. Traditional Tai Chi whilst is mostly practiced slowly and gently can be very
powerful tool for building strength, coordination and mechanical understanding of the body.
Similar to traditional tai chi, traditional kung fu is also very good for the grown body and also
requires patience and dedication from the practitioner. So no matter your age, you are not too
old - as long as you keep an open mind, a young spirit and a positive attitude then you can
certainly unlock the benefits of Kung Fu training today.
