A celebration from morning till night!

We had our final training before the Japan Race, before all getting together for the Season End Party.

Captain Fritz led a round of wh**ky tasting, introducing members to the characters of sherry cask vs peaty whiskies.

We all then had a hearty meal, engaging conversations, before we watched the premiere of the Season Review video together (see separate post)!

The highlight of the evening was year-end awards in recognition of the outstanding commitments of three of our members:
Most Improved New Member: Masafumi Shimozu
Best Attendance: Natalie Cheung
Dragon of the Year (MVP): Sam YS Suen (Honourable mention: Tommy Lui)

Congratulations to everyone!

More chit chats, drinks, and melon lasted us until the end!

What a way to conclude Season 2026,

It's exactly one year since we lost Ah Lam, closely followed by the departure of Captain Ivan.

Our team roster will not be complete without Ah Lam and Captain Ivan.

Gone but never forgotten.

And that's our Season Finale!

HKUST MBAAA DRAGONS went back to Sai Kung - the training site where we were first formed. It was a morning of reunion, as past members such as Bruce, Sandy and Panda rejoined us for a fun-filled morning, and one of our founding Captains Sammy met us at our rally spot to send us off!

We paddled from Sai Kung Pier to Yim Tin Tsai, where we enjoyed a round of local dessert, before we continued our journey to Pak Sha Chau. There, the team practiced a traditional dragon boat salute, enjoyed our customary watermelon, before we had a pleasant surprise of running into our founding coach Master Hung (Coach Sammi) 洪爺 and past steersman Sai Yeung 細楊!

It was a morning of reflection as well, as we observed a moment of silence in memory of our beloved team mates Ah Lam and Captain Ivan.

It may be a wrap for the regular season. But the journey continues, as we look forward to possibly TWO post-season races...

四年前昨日，2022 年 9 月 8 日英國晚上，英女皇伊麗莎白二世駕崩。

佢多年來多次訪港，原來曾於 1975 年該次欣賞過龍舟競渡。

4 years ago yesterday on September 9, 2022 - Queen Elizabeth II passed away.

She paid many Royal Visits to Hong Kong over the years, and during her 1975 visit, she enjoyed a dragon boat ceremony by local fishermen.

CCWC is essentially the annual DB World Cup, and being 2nd runner up means they’re 3rd in the world!
