5 years ago, we ran our very first Solo Female Travelers Tour 🤩🥳🌍

It began in Iceland, followed by Tanzania, and five years later we have run 150 tours across 25 countries, supported and championed countless female owned and led businesses, and truly seen a movement to get more women to stop waiting on others to see the world.

2,000 + guests have traveled with us from that first tour, and one of the most rewarding parts of the past 5 years has been seeing the friendships across continents, and the many guests who have become like family, having returned to travel with us 5, 6, 7 and even 8 times.

We are incredibly grateful to every woman who has trusted us with her precious vacation time, every female entrepreneur and guide who has shared her passion and craft with us, every member of our team who has brought these experiences to life, and everyone in this community who has supported us along the way.

Here’s to 5 years of unforgettable adventures, meaningful connections and changing the world for women in tourism - watch this space - world domination is still to come! 💐💙

Happy 5th anniversary to us! 🥂

There is a whole category of travel built around seeing places before they change, disappear or become inaccessible. Glaciers, wildlife, fragile ecosystems, and even entire communities.

But if we are traveling somewhere because we know it is under pressure, what responsibility do we have beyond simply showing up and witnessing it?

In Episode 26 of the Solo Female Travelers Podcast, Mar talks with Dr. Karla Boluk, Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, whose work focuses on sustainable and responsible tourism, about the phenomenon of Last Chance Tourism and the complicated relationship between wanting to experience a threatened place and potentially contributing to the pressures it is already facing.

They talk about why “seeing it before it is gone” is not enough, the different ways travelers respond to disappearing places, and how we can move from simply observing to making more thoughtful choices about where we go, how we travel and who benefits from our visit.

Episode 26 is out now wherever you listen to podcasts, and you can watch us on YouTube too!

If you enjoyed the episode, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts, rate us on Spotify, or drop a comment and let us know what you thought. Every review and comment truly helps more women find the show and we love reading them!

As always drop your thoughts below on the subject? Have you heard of this concept before?

Mar is in Kyrgyzstan, scouting for our next Solo Female Travelers adventure, coming October 2027!

She is traveling through Bishkek, the mountains of Chon Kemin, Kochkor, Issyk-Kul and Karakol. She’ll be horseback riding in the mountains, visiting women-led craft cooperatives, joining traditional felt and embroidery workshops, staying in a yurt, observing eagle hunting, and enjoying local cooking, hot springs and plenty of incredible scenery.

Follow along in Stories while Mar explores, and if Kyrgyzstan has been on your list, join the waitlist so you are the first to hear when the trip is ready. 💗✈️

There’s a reason so many women fall in love with solo travel after that first trip. Once you realize how good it feels to do exactly what YOU want, it’s kind of hard to go back. 😂

Eat when you’re hungry. Skip the place everyone says you “have” to see. Spend half the day doing absolutely nothing. Change your plans because you feel like it. Get a little lost, choose the wrong restaurant, wear the same outfit again.

None of it is a big deal when there’s nobody else’s schedule, expectations or opinions to work around.
Once you’ve traveled solo once, you start realizing how many things you thought mattered... really don’t. 💃🏻✈️

What else should be on our list?

Women travel solo because they want to. That really is the whole point. ✈️

In Episode 25, Mar and Meg talk about what women actually want from solo travel, using our 2026 survey of almost 2,800 women around the world, plus plenty of their own experience and opinions.

They talk about why women choose to travel alone, why group travel can still count as solo travel, safety, the dreaded single supplement, guilt and family pressure, dining alone, where women actually trust travel recommendations, and some of the very basic things the travel industry still gets wrong when it comes to women traveling solo. There is data, there are opinions, and there are definitely a few Mar & Meg tangents along the way. 😅

🎧 Episode 25 of the Solo Female Travelers Podcast is out now wherever you get your podcasts, and on YouTube too.

And one tiny favor before you go...
We look at travel data all year, but here is some podcast data: Apple ignores shows unless they get reviews, especially if they are in short, compressed windows. We are currently at a 5.0 rating, but we only have 10 reviews across countries.

If just 50 of you in our audience leave a quick note, just a very short and quick review, right now, we will crack the Top 20 Places & Travel charts by tomorrow.

Honestly. Could you do this for us? 💗

🎄 CHRISTMAS MARKETS SALE: $350 OFF 🎄

We currently have only 3 spots left on our November and December 2026 departures, and both tours are $350 off right now.

Meet Maria, the woman leading us through European Christmas markets ✨

Maria is Austrian, with family in Germany and Switzerland, and she has traveled to around 100 countries herself, many of them solo. She is a tourism entrepreneur and experienced guide with a real focus on authentic, sustainable travel, and she is especially good at connecting travelers with the local people, culture and traditions of the places we visit.

And this is definitely not a trip where we just wander from market to market drinking mulled w**e. 😅 Over 9 days we travel through Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany and Austria, mixing Christmas markets with a thermal spa morning in Bad Ragaz, Neuschwanstein Castle, Munich, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Vienna, local food, b**r, cooking and plenty of festive stops along the way.

But our past travelers probably describe Maria better than we ever could:

💗 “Maria was an amazing guide. Everyone on the trip loved her.”
💗 “We couldn’t have asked for a better group leader and local guides.”
