My Chow Gar

My Chow Gar Authentic online training in Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis, rooted in the lineage of Grandmaster Ip Chee Keung.

We build internal structure, shock power, and instructor-level practitioners to preserve and transmit the art worldwide. We do this with 3 important tools:
- Recorded lessons and training sessions which can be simply followed. These contain very precise and clear instructions about the techniques and exercises, and the training sessions are guided. We give different type of guided trainings to make our students understand quickly how a well-structured training looks. By the end of the first module the students are able to confidently create their own training session based on their knowledge.

- Closed Facebook Group & Online Live Coaching sessions. We created a closed group for the members of the course, where they can discuss with us any question they have. They can share their training videos, they can get instant feedback on their progress. Beside that we are offering live coaching sessions where we check our students progress live, we can correct them and can give them tailored advice. This combined with the video lessons is a powerful method for teaching.

- Workshops and camps, personal training visits. Time to time we are organizing workshops and camps, where our students can meet us in person and are able to train with us. After a certain level this is necessary for the right progress. Join our open community group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/417238663317752

You built the structure.

What comes next?

In Chow Gar, the next stage is not simply about learning more techniques.

It is about changing what happens inside the techniques you already know.

The foundation gives you the framework.

Then the real work begins:

• connecting the upper and lower body
• keeping the bridge alive through movement
• learning to open and close without losing structure
• making the waist part of the action
• maintaining connection under pressure
• beginning to recognise these qualities through feeling, not only appearance

This is one of the biggest transitions in Chow Gar.

A movement may look almost identical from the outside.

But inside, everything begins to change.

The bridge becomes more substantial.

The body becomes harder to separate.

The same technique begins to carry more of the whole structure.

**The technique did not become advanced.
You began putting more Chow Gar inside it.**

Our new article explores the transition from foundation to connection, and why this stage is essential before deeper power development can begin.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.

On September 21, two new MyChowGar Cohorts begin, and registration is now officially open for both.

🥋 AWAKENING COHORT

https://mychowgar.com/cohorts/awakening

For those who want to begin Chow Gar properly and build the foundations from the ground up.

This is not about collecting techniques. You will begin developing the frame, structure and body method that everything later in Chow Gar is built upon, following a clear training path with guidance and feedback along the way.

🔥 TRANSFORMATION COHORT

https://mychowgar.com/cohorts/transformation

For those who already have experience and are ready to discover what should happen inside the movements they have learned.

This is where we move beyond simply knowing forms and techniques and begin working with the things that are rarely explained in detail: connected body, structure, internal development, power and meaningful application.

The Transformation Cohort will be taught jointly by Siheng Attila Baráth and Siheng Zoltán Bereczki, direct students of Gatekeeper Grandmaster Ip Chee Keung, with decades of training and teaching experience.

These are not simply courses to watch.

They are guided training journeys, with structured progression, instructor support, feedback and a group of practitioners moving through the material together.

Registration is now open.
📅 Both cohorts begin September 21.
Choose the stage that matches where you are now, and start training with us.

If you are unsure which cohort is right for you, contact us and tell us about your previous training experience. We’ll help you choose the right path.

Two Cohorts. Two different stages of the journey. One authentic path.**

On September 21, we begin two new guided MyChowGar Cohorts.

🥋 **Awakening Cohort**

https://mychowgar.com/cohort

For those who are new to Chow Gar and want to build the right foundations from the beginning.

This is where the frame is built: stance, structure, movement, fundamental hands, Qigong and Saam Bo Gin, all within a structured training path.

🔥 **Transformation Cohort**

https://mychowgar.com/cohorts/transformation

For practitioners who already have a foundation, but feel there is something more behind the movements they have learned.

This is where we begin exploring what is rarely explained in detail: how the body becomes connected, what to look for and develop internally, how structure begins to transform into internal power, and how application can be used to understand and test these principles.

The **Transformation Cohort will be taught together by Siheng Attila Baráth and Siheng Zoltán Bereczki**, both direct students of Gatekeeper Grandmaster Ip Chee Keung, bringing decades of training and teaching experience into the program.

This is not about collecting more techniques.

It is about **building the right body, understanding the principles, and learning how to make Chow Gar work.**

**Two cohorts start September 21.**

If you are unsure which cohort is right for you, or have any questions about the training, **contact us. We’ll be happy to help you choose the right path.**

What actually happens in your first ten Chow Gar lessons?

Not advanced power.

Not secret techniques.

Not a form rushed through before the body is ready for it.

The first stage is about building the structure that everything else will eventually depend on.

In our latest article, we walk through the first ten lessons of the MyChowGar curriculum and show how the training develops step by step:

• stance and stepping
• basic fists and Gar Sao
• strengthening and Qigong work
• Gin Choi and Bil Jee
• Tung Sat, Dao Sao, Sai Sao
• Narp Sao, Soc Sao and Yin K*m
• repeated guided training sessions that turn information into practice

One important detail surprises many people:

**Saam Bo Gin is not taught in the first ten lessons.**

Not because it is too complicated.

Because it is too important to reduce to choreography.

Before students reach the foundation form, we want them to already have some structure, body awareness, bridge understanding and technical vocabulary to bring into it.

The form comes later.

The preparation begins from lesson one.

You already know the movements. Now the real transformation begins.

Most Kung Fu training focuses on techniques, forms and applications.

But there is a much more important question:

What is supposed to happen inside your body while you perform them?

This is where the Transformation Cohort begins.

In the first stage of training, you build the frame. You learn the fundamental structures, movements and principles of Chow Gar.

Now we start changing what happens inside that frame.

You will learn what to pay attention to in your own body. How separate movements begin to connect. How structure develops into a connected body. How the foundations of internal power begin to emerge.

And application training takes on a different purpose.

You are not simply memorising another collection of techniques.

Application patterns become a way to test and understand the body method: how structure, connection and power have to work when another person is actually there.

This is why we call it Transformation.

Not more techniques.

A transformation of the body behind the techniques.

Can you really learn traditional Kung Fu online?

Yes.

But not everything.
And certainly not just by watching videos.

That distinction is at the heart of our latest MyChowGar article.

A video can show you Saam Bo Gin.

It can show you the sequence, the stepping, the hand positions and the external structure.

But the video cannot put Saam Bo Gin into your body.

That requires training.

Repetition.

Correction.

Time.

And eventually, physical contact with other practitioners.

This is why we see online training not as a replacement for traditional transmission, but as a way to make a large and important part of that development accessible to people who may live thousands of kilometres from a qualified Chow Gar teacher.

One of our students, Niko, recently travelled from Brazil to Hungary after nearly four years of online training.

When he arrived, direct contact immediately revealed things that could never have been fully understood through a screen.

But he did not arrive as a beginner.

He arrived with years of foundation already in his body.

That allowed the physical training to begin at a completely different level.

In our new article, we look honestly at:

• what can be learned online
• what cannot be replaced by online training
• why progression matters more than having hundreds of videos
• why feedback is essential
• why partner training eventually becomes necessary
• and what separates an online course from an actual training system

**The video of Saam Bo Gin can be delivered online.
Saam Bo Gin itself cannot.**

🥋 **Honouring Gatekeeper Grandmaster Ip Chee Keung on His 77th Birthday**

This September, our Sifu celebrates his 77th birthday.

For the Chow Gar community, this is more than a birthday. It is an opportunity to recognise a lifetime devoted to preserving, practising and transmitting Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

Students and practitioners now train in many different countries. Some have learned from Sifu personally, while others are connected to his teaching through their instructors or MyChowGar. Distance may separate us, but the lineage connects us.

We would like to bring the wider community together to prepare a shared birthday gift—an expression of our respect, gratitude and support for Sifu and the headquarters.

There is no required amount. Every gift is entirely personal, and you can also take part simply by sending Sifu a birthday message.

👉 **Gift a Red Envelope and send your message here:**
https://mychowgar.com/Sifu-Birthday

Let us show Sifu how many people around the world value what he has preserved and passed on.

**Happy 77th Birthday, Sifu.**

What does lineage actually mean in traditional Kung Fu?

A name on a certificate?

A family tree?

A famous teacher somewhere in the past?

For us, lineage means something much more practical:

**a living reference for what is being trained, how it should feel, and how it is passed from one practitioner to the next.**

Two people can perform almost exactly the same movement and produce completely different results.

The difference may not be visible.

It may be in the structure.
The bridge.
The tension.
The connection.
The way power travels through the body.

These things are difficult to preserve through choreography alone.

They require demonstration, correction, physical experience and, eventually, transmission.

In our latest article, we explore what lineage means inside MyChowGar, what we received through more than two decades of direct training with Gatekeeper Grandmaster Ip Chee Keung, and why modern teaching methods and traditional transmission do not have to be opposites.

Tradition gives us the reference.

Good teaching helps us pass it forward.

🥋 The MyChowGar Community is now open

Today marks an exciting new chapter for MyChowGar.

We have created a shared online home for everyone interested in Chow Gar—and in kung fu more broadly. It is a place to connect, ask questions, exchange ideas, join groups and take part in meaningful discussions, all outside Facebook.

Public conversations can be read by anyone. To post, reply or react, you only need a free account—and registration does not mean committing to a course or programme.

Members can join public and private groups, start conversations, create groups of their own, invite others and help shape what this community becomes. Our private training and cohort groups will also live here.

This is not simply a new feature. It is a community we want to build with you.

Come in, explore the new space and help us shape its future.

Bil Jee looks like a finger technique.

But in Chow Gar, the fingers are only the final point of something much larger.

The stance, body connection, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand all have to work as one structure. A beginner can learn the external shape of Bil Jee relatively quickly.

What takes time is building the body behind it.

This is one of the reasons simple Chow Gar techniques can remain relevant for decades. The movement may stay the same, while the practitioner gradually develops more connection, more control and eventually more power inside it.

In our latest article, we look at:

• why Bil Jee appears so early in the Chow Gar curriculum
• why the elbow matters more than most beginners realise
• the difference between structure and stiffness
• why advanced power cannot simply be copied
• how the hand itself has to develop together with the body

A simple technique can reveal a great deal about the practitioner performing it.
