Balance is often the a great obstacle in Parivrtta Trikonasana.

Because the pose combines a forward extension, a deep twist, and a narrow base, many students struggle to maintain stability while also finding true rotation. The result is often a collapsing pelvis or a forced twist.

Using a wall and blocks changes the experience completely.

The wall helps keep the hips square, preventing the back hip from drifting forward and providing a clear reference for alignment. With the pelvis stabilized, the twist can originate more intelligently from the thoracic spine rather than from distortion in the lower back or hips.

When the fear of losing balance is removed, attention can shift to what matters most: lengthening the spine, creating space in the chest, and refining the quality of the rotation.

Support does not diminish the pose—it reveals it.

In yoga, we recognize the mind's influence on our emotional state. The practice can address both physical fatigue and mental stress. Our experience shows that incorporating restorative postures once a week brings a welcome boost to your practice.

Women have a natural monthly reminder during their menstrual cycle. But if you're a woman who has reached menopause or a man, what prompts you to take a much-needed break and indulge in a quiet practice?

By maintaining flexibility in the joints and muscles, we make space in the areas that are vital for the health of the lower back, pelvis, and organic body.

Enjoy all the health benefits that develop and as a result of this subtle practice. The breath will naturally become quieter, and more lengthened. This longer, deeper breath moves to the lower pelvis which aligns the organic body. As a result, the mind is then able to let go of tension and stress.

In Iyengar Yoga, the last week of each month is dedicated to restorative practice, known as "Quiet Week" or "Restorative Week." During this time, we focus on gentle, restorative poses that promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and deep healing. Restorative practice offers numerous benefits for both body and mind!

Back bending poses help to maintain and improve the health of the spine.

They enhance spinal flexibility, strengthen the back muscles, and promote proper alignment, reducing the risk of back-related issues.
