U14 Boys Div 3.
Barna v Corrib Celtic.
Sunday, 17th May 2026.
In a must win game for Corrib we started brightly and took the lead midway through the 1st half after Liam Henehan slotted home after getting on the end of a through ball ( Liam also hit a post) .
The 2nd came shortly after when Cormac Neylon scored at the 2nd attempt with his weaker left foot after the 1st attempt was blocked ( this was his 1st start) following an exchange of passes with Liam.
However Barna struck back immediately after half time and with the slight advantage of a stiffening breeze put us under pressure for a time.
This changed when Luke Hanley put Liam through on the right with an excellent pass and Liam finished well across the keeper.
5 mins later Cormac came back on and within 60 secs scored our 4th when he controlled the ball and took it past a defender and poked it home.
Corrib managed the game out for a 4::1 win.
There were a number of good performances throughout the field from Ciaran in goal to Ben Commins, Ben Callinan, Aaron Qualter and Cillian Connolly at the back, Donal Newell in midfield who was excellent and Man of the Match, Evan O Flynn. Luke Hanley and Patrick Curran in the 1st half , and Liam and Cormac up front with a brace each.
Elijah Madden at the back , Aaron O Neill in midfield and Dylan Duggan did well off the bench and Ethan Toner on his debut was excellent in left midfield.
Brian Keenan made a decent cameo in goals also on his debut.
Next up is West Coast on Wednesday in Gortscully.
