The Moanbaun facility is open again. Thanks to all that have contributed so far to our Idonate campaign. We need everyones help in reaching our target so we can meet our shortfall in funding. Head up to the facility and see where every euro is put to great use to provide state of the art sports facilities for Athenry.

There are some remaining works to be completed to finish the long jump and high jump areas which should complete in the next few weeks.

*** Breaking News ***

Great news this morning with confirmation Moanbaun Sports Development Project have been awarded a further €343,500 under the Regional Sports Capital Grants announced today.

The award of these funds are a milestone step towards the completion of our wonderful development at Moanbaun. This money will allow us to complete the two D areas at the end of the pitch which will include high jump, shot putt, Astro warm up area, long jump, and other works.

This is a joint venture between Athenry Football Club and Athenry Athletics Clubs (Senior and Juvenile).

Thank you to all committee members involved in this project to-date, to our public representatives for their unwavering support & guidance and also to the wider community who have shown such enthusiasm for this project.

Thanks to Peadar Nugent for nominating the Moanbaun Sports Development Project Committee for the Galway People of the Year Awards . There are many people missing from the photo that are a huge part of this project, other members of the committee, the committees of both clubs, our philantropic donors, National and local politicians, tidy towns, GRD, the list goes on. We look forward to officially accepting our award in November.
