Combined Counties Football League
Division 2 Result:
St Peter’s B 0
Moate Celtic 3
Our 2025/26 CCFL season came to a close this evening in sweltering conditions in McCarthy Park, with an entertaining end of season fixture that certainly deserved more than the three goals that ended up on the scoreboard. Moate were the better side tonight against a depleted home team and deservedly took the points back out the M6.
It has been a mixed campaign for the B team lads, and the unavailability of a large number of players for the A team has undoubtedly had an impact on the side over the past few months. Credit must go to both the players and management for their commitment and perseverance throughout what has been a very stop start season.
Tonight also marked Michael Daly’s and Robbie Woods final game in charge of the B team, as they step away to spend more time with their families. Everyone involved in the club would like to extend sincere gratitude to both Michael and Robbie for their time, dedication and commitment since they got involved. We have been extremely fortunate to have such genuine, talented and invested management teams at the club in recent years, and we wish them both the very best for the future. They will always be welcome at St Peter’s Football Club.

Tonight marks the final game of the season for our B Team.⚽
Results didn’t always go our way this season, and we were unlucky in the cup, but credit has to go to the players who kept showing up, putting the effort in, and stepping up for the team throughout the season. That commitment and attitude never dropped, and that says a lot about the group.💚
Big thanks to Michael and Woodsy for all their time, dedication, and commitment across the season. The work that goes in week after week behind the scenes is hugely appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed.🟢⚪️
One last game tonight lads, finish the season the right way and be proud of the effort put in all year! 👏
Nothing beats a sunny evening in McCarthy Park, so get yourselves up and get behind the lads one last time! ☀️
🍀C'mon the hoops!🍀

Everyone involved in St Peter's FC would like to extend our sincere gratitude to outgoing Senior A team manager Mark McConnell for his incredible time, effort, honesty and commitment to the club over the last three years.
Alongside his role as Senior A manager, Mark somehow also found the time to manage our U17s last season and our U19s this season, overseeing a huge amount of success across the club during his tenure. Year one brought a domestic double of the Cotter & Counties Cup, while year two delivered a much acclaimed domestic treble, a Youths Counties Cup, and even an Over 35s league winners medal as a player, a season that will forever hold a special place in the history of our football club.
This season, while trophies may have regrettably eluded us, the unforgettable run to the 2026 LFA Senior Cup group stages will live long in the memory. Welcoming Dundalk and Shelbourne to McCarthy Park in competitive fixtures, and taking on our league of Ireland neighbours Athlone Town in front of a bumper crowd in Lissywollen, created more memorable moments for everyone connected with our club!
Away from the glamour of trophies and big occasions, Mark’s honesty, people skills and can do attitude were second to none. Alongside all that was mentioned above, one of Mark’s greatest contributions has been the development and promotion of many underage players into the senior setup, something that will undoubtedly stand the club in great stead for years to come.
Mark leaves his role with the Senior A team with the very best wishes and thanks from everyone at St Peter’s FC, but thankfully he won't be leaving the club completely, as he will continue in his managerial role with the U19s into the 2026/27 season. Thanks for everything!

Combined Counties Football League
Senior Division result:
St Peter’s A 6
Clonaslee 2
Dylan ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Scully ⚽️
Jaiden ⚽️
Our A team finished up the season this morning with a comprehensive win against a very competitive Clonaslee side in a sun soaked McCarthy Park.
The match wasn’t as straightforward as the scoreline suggests, with the visitors very much in the game at 2-1 and 3-2 before a couple of well taken goals from Dylan and Scully secured all three points.
Unfortunately, results elsewhere went against us today and we came up just short this season. We send our congratulations to Willow Park on their league victory.
After two dominant and very enjoyable seasons for the Senior A team at local level, this season didn’t quite hit those same heights. The lads will now enjoy a well-earned break before looking to hit the ground running again in 2026/27.

Combined Counties Football League
Our Senior A team head into their final league fixture of the season tomorrow still holding a slim chance of retaining the Senior Division Trophy.
It has been an excellent season overall, but a huge number of player absences has inevitably taken its toll, making for a very challenging end to the campaign for the group. Despite that, the squad has continued to battle right to the very end and will be giving everything once again tomorrow hoping for results elsewhere to go our way.
Kick off in McCarthy is 11am and we wish the players, Michèal and in particular Mark McConnell, in what could be his last game as manager of the A team, all the very best.
